I'm a Canuck fan...I don't see Detroit doing this deal. To get them to take LE, Vancouver would have give them at least Juolevi and a draft pick and Detroit would have to give up NOTHING.

I agree some what but Yzerman has yet to take a cap dump and he is always stressing that a rebuild is done mostly through the draft. I also don't think Erne is worth much a 6th or 7th rd pick.

This might not be the perfect deal but I think Detroit would be missing an opportunity not to use their cap space as an asset. Assuming the contract they take on his only 2-3 years which isn't in their winning window by any means. They don't have a ton of assets player wise to move and creating space for other teams is valuable. If they can pick up a decent prospect (or pick) or two doing this i think it's a no brainer. Only downside I see is tying up roster spots for young guys which can be a pretty big downside having a log jam

Hard pass from the Canucks. LE21 gets his signing bonus on July 1st then he is only paid $5M over the next 2 seasons, If Van retains half, the cap hit is $3M and pay is $2.5M. That is quite average for a bottom six player that is currently playing on the second line.
