Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think these two trades give the Pens an incredibly solid D corps for the stretch and playoff run as well as a solid forward lineup. Then if Guentzel could come back for the playoffs, they'd be even more stout.
The Wild, as currently constructed aren't working. They need assets to improve in the future. Also, Zucker and Brodin don't appear to be in their future plans. That said, they would be strong adds to the Pens. Give up a couple roster guys, a couple prospects and a 1st and 2nd to make the trade.
Also swap Bjugstad for Wayne Simmonds. Similar cap hits. Simmonds adds toughness and grit to the team along with skill. Would be nice to have Horny on the top PP unit and Simmonds on the 2nd PP unit.
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. Zucker, Jason
Additional Details:
based on reports, it doesn't appear Brodin or Zucker are in Wild's long term plans. Both upgrade Pens.
MIN
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
  2. Hållander, Filip
  3. Johnson, Jack
  4. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  5. 2020 1st round pick (PIT)
  6. 2021 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Galchenyuk and Johnson can slot in immediately. Hallander and POJ are prospects for each side. Add in a 1st and a 2nd for the obvious upgrades in players besides the prospects.
2.
PIT
  1. Simmonds, Wayne
Additional Details:
Simmonds also not in long term plans for NJD. But, adds an added dimension to the Pens. Another net front presence, not afraid to stick his nose in there. Would be really interesting to have him on the Pens side after years of him being with the Flyers.
NJD
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
Additional Details:
Bjugs hasn't really worked out in PIT. Not in the long term plans.

If the Wild trade both Brodin and Zucker together, it would be a fatal mistake to not get a highly talented young center that projects to be a mainstay in a team's top 6. Penguins don't have a guy like that. Zucker probably could be had for Hallander, a 1st, and possibly a slight add, so that means the Wild are essentially trading Brodin for Galchenyuk, Johnson, and a 2nd which would be robbery by the Penguins.

Zucker for hallander a 1st and more would be utter robbery by the wild, so one robbery followed by other robbery. (not to mention the person including this also threw POJ in). I think pens should say no.

I am not so sure it would be utter robbery, don't forget Zucker is under contract at a comfortable cap hit. If he can get/stay healthy, he is well worth Hallander and our 1st. Not so sure Minnesota would pick Hallander out of the bunch, though. Guerin knows our prospects as good as anyone and is probably asking for Addison which is why the deal has never come to fruition. GMJR doesn't strike me as a guy would nix a deal over worrying about next years cap, so I am assuming Billy G is just asking for our prospects which is a bit too rich right now.

Zucker is a bit overpaid, other than this year he hasn't had too bad of a injury history so longer term that isn't the bigger worry. No way I would do a first plus hallander without retention on Zucker, which I know the wild would not do. I don't think GMJR is worried about the cap hit, I think the reason Zucker hasn't gone anywhere(penguins or elsewhere) is cause the wild are still somewhat in the race, if they fall out he might get moved but if they stay in it he might not get traded at all.

good point - i have been completely sleeping on Minnesota this year and only watching their games not the standings. they really aren't far out at all! At 25-22-6 and only 4 pts out of the WC, the west is just not great right now flushed cheeks I guess we get to wait and see, less than 3 weeks til TDL now. It just almost seems inevitable up to this point lmaoo

yeah the west has been pretty wide open for first half of year, some struggling teams are still in it. Only teams way out of it are the kings along with San Jose and Ducks.
