Something different - COL TOR FLA

Created by: TanSor
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 5, 2020
Published: Feb. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Jost, Tyson
  2. Zhuravlyov, Danila [Reserve List]
  3. 2020 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
I've seen variations of this trade before and I think it makes a lot of sense for both teams.
2.
MIN
  1. Ceci, Cody
  2. Der-Arguchintsev, Semyon
  3. Sandin, Rasmus
Additional Details:
Ceci taken for cap purposes. I know Leafs fans are extremely high on Sandin (and rightfully so) but they have a major log jam at LD. Wild get a LD to become Brodin's eventual replacement and bet on SDA. Only way I could see the Wild giving up Dumba for Sandin is if they acquired young centers in other trades like I've done in this post.
TOR
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
Leafs get their much needed RD.
3.
MIN
  1. Heponiemi, Aleksi
  2. 2020 1st round pick (FLA)
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (COL)
FLA
  1. Brodin, Jonas
Additional Details:
FLA gets their top pairing D who would thrive next to Ekblad.

Sorry but Sandin is absolutely off limits.

(Whispers)* Dumba is also overrated on this site, and that was true before his down year.

TML doesnt need Dumba, we have enough two-way wingers playing as D already.....

Just to elaborate on @Random2152 's point, Sandin is cost controlled and will be needed starting next season regardless of the help needed on the right side.

I think if trade happens for a RHD, it will at the cost of forwards and prospects.

I’d be a big supporter of the Leafs bringing in Dumba. I don’t think they’d move Sandin in the package as they need NhL ready dmen on entry level deals.

I think the trade offer itself it fair, but just see it being a Jonsson or Kapanen instead of Sandin, for cap purposes if nothing else and because Minny needs scoring.

For me, I see Dumba as a guy that is capable of cranking the intensity switch in the post season...something I haven’t really seen with many leaf players the past couple years. He’s priced right at $6m and his age matches up with the core of our squad.

Yeah Sandin probably has a higher potential than Dumba but you're right that this trade doesn't make sense for the Wild at all. The point of moving Dumba/Brodin would be to improve the offense.

I think there could be a mutual fit...will depend on how highly each GM view their's and the other's assets.
