Toronto can make the playoffs and still only give up a 3rd..

Sure...yeah...cause 6 games is a mountain of a condition! You want Jack to win 6 games...right? You do WANT to give up the 2nd...right?

Freddy will be back in no more than a week. Chances of Campbell even playing 6 games are slim let alone getting 6 wins and the team having to make playoffs. Clifford most likely walks to UFA and re-signs in LA this summer.. conditions then not met and it's a 3rd round pick that goes. It's also a pick in a weaker draft class..

Read what I said above above the pick.

Also, LOL of you think a better team is purely defined on just stats and goals against, you need to learn a great deal about hockey before you even think about posting again. LOL thanks for the funny content though.

I think you're the one who needs to learn more about hockey if you think giving up a 2nd + 3rd or even (2) 3rds for a 12/13th forward + marginal improvement at BACKUP G is a good idea

also, good chance Clifford resigns lol.. he's a Toronto boy playing on a team that SHOULD be a contender, but oh yeah he's for sure walking back to the Kings to be a basement dweller!

Like I said, Freddy is back in no more than a week. He'll be there starter. That chances of Campbell even playing 6 games after that are slim. Let alone win 6 games.. condition then not met and pick is a 3rd.

LOL. I can't even with you anymore. I'm dying of laughter over here from your ridiculous comments. Goodbye bud.

I needed to buy milk and eggs. It was late and grocery stores were closed. I felt I needed them now and couldn't wait, so I bought them at the convenience store and paid $2 more than if I just got them at the grocery store in the morning. I have a farm, too, but couldn't wait a few days for the chickens to lay the eggs or the cow's milk to be pasteurized.

The convenience store milk and eggs were ok...nothing special...but they provided my family with what they needed that night. I won't miss the extra $2 ever, even though I could have bought a scratch ticket with it and won $50k. Who knows.

*end of analogy

Did the leafs overpay? Maybe...will depend on how much better Campbell fares in net than Hutch. But will they miss the assets they gave up? Not likely.

If those 12 points are the difference between making and not making the playoffs, it's a nominal price to pay

Campbell is slightly above average, but Talbot, smith, Elliot could have been had for less. Clifford is a good add, as Toronto needs size. Price wasn't too far off, but Toronto goes no where without addressing team defense, and this trade isn't it. Matthews had 2 goals the other night and still finished -3.
The team will have to part with a solid forward from which they have tons of depth, not a package of mid level prospects, to address the defense, (johnsson/kapanen/etc...), but Toronto just isn't good on team defense and Clifford alone cant make up for lack of physicality.
This team still misses playoffs or gets finished in the first round until they fix the team defense and defense, and are just marginally better now.
