Description
Is Strome expendable? Seem Dach is passing him on the depth chart and he bounces around the lineup. What would a fair trade look like from your perspective?

We’re not trading strome
Yes he’s been thrown around the middle 6 but imo he’s very underrated and overlooked
He posses a great 2 way game
But if he were to get traded it would have to be Risto going back
Which wouldn’t happen

Idk. There isnt anything that the Hawks would really want that fits with their timeline and BUF would be willing to give up. Conversation would probably start with Jokiharju

I am sure CHI isn't actively shopping him, just seems like he is getting pushed into a lesser role as Dach progresses.
I think BUF would be willing to make a trade involving Risto and Strome. They are in desperate need for a true 2C and have an excessive amount of D-men on the right side.

Ugh, it pains me to read that, but it's probably true. Cozens might be a good option.

Risto for Strome would be an incredible move for Buffalo and another bad move for Chicago

If the ask is cozens then it's an immediate no and moving on

Hahaha yeah exactly. Neither team probably willing to give up young/futures unless for another, so it probably doesnt make sense for either team. But i am still intrigued by Mittlestadt. Lets say, Strome for Mittelstadt and a 1st lottery protected?

Kirk Dach’s progression has been amazing this last month. Playing with more confidence and getting “comfortable” with more ice time. That said, it is unrealistic to think Strome is on the block. As it stands, the Hawks have three lines that can score. Strome and DeBrinicat have great chemistry. Stone has played well for Chicago since coming from Arizona.

In November when the club look terrible, I was particularly hard on Strome, although at the time he was getting points and had the best (plus/minus) I expect he will be offered a bridge contract like DeBrinicat’s (3 years)

What do you think the ceiling is for Cozens? Honestly, let's look at it objectively. Doesn't it look like Cozens...ceiling...is Dylan Strome? I can't see the #7 OA pick with year over year worse stats having a higher ceiling than Strome. No?

Multi 100+ point OHL career. over a point per game international tournament. Over a point per game AHL career. .8 ppg NHL career as a 22 year old. That's DANG good.

***EDIT*** I guess Cozens international tournament is equal to Stromes.

I would't hate this. I'd prefer a top 10 protected pick.

Strome was also on a stacked Juniors team, which cozens isn't, but is still producing. His ceiling at the NHL level could be higher than Strome.

I hear what you're saying. I'm also not saying your crazy by the way. I get it. We all like our own players prospects. That includes me too! I just see these comparisons and an NHL product today is more of a sure thing than a prospect in the future. The Hawks need cap which is most likely why they do that trade.

I think the ceiling difference is gonna be in his feet. If he can skate well then thats gonna be the difference. Probably not a franchise changing center but top line upside and surefire second liner. Thats the ceiling of course. Nobody knows whats actually gonna happen. Mittelstadt was supposed to be a star and Im kinda bummed he hasnt figured it out yet

Isn't Cozens supposed to be more of a winger at the NHL level anyway? It's been months since I seriously looked @ Cozens. What I remember from his draft critique was that he's got great scoring ability. He's fast, but he's not like to be a center. no? Maybe that's wrong?

Side note...I was actually a supporter of Cozens for the #3OA pick a year ago around this time...then I swapped to Byram. I'm happy Bowman didn't listen to me by the way...

Yeah haha I was a big fan of Cozens as well until we won the lottery, then I was all in on Turcotte or Byram. Either way, I think we will find out what his floor is next year and then probably his ceiling pretty quickly
