NYI and Tor are not teams that would be trade partners currently. Neither side would be looking to help the other.

I agree, but that said I think theoretically this could be a win-win. The Islanders have Noah Dobson who can slot in behind Pulock as the #2RHD. The Leafs have forward depth and this could solve a problem for both of them. Would also love to see Kapanen's speed with Barzal.

Agree with reelkena here, but Lou is a professional and would understand Kapanen's value and I have no doubt he would accept this trade since he would be adding Kapanen to his top six for a defender that is a 5-6 RHD at best. No, I don't agree... this isn't a win-win

Part of being a professional is not helping other teams in your proximity in division or standings. I don't just think they wouldn't do it out of spite.

I forgot that Leafs players are worth their weight in gold. Mayfield is a #4 defensemen, top end PKer and is signed the next 4 years @ 1.45 million. This is the type of player the Leafs need, and is easily worth a middle 6 winger, even if he is a Leaf.
