Long Term he would only last 3-4 years, 2 if he is lucky on the caps, plus in 21-22 season hell be a ufa

If you think he'll score 40 goals for the next 4-5 year, you sign him for that long irrespective of his age. IMO.

If you want to let him go to free agency, I hope the Oilers would have room for him. He'd make the best PP in 40 years into the best PP ever.

Let's see...offer him $15,000,000 and that should do it. 33% payroll on 2 players, then you can worry about that payroll and cap stuff later.

As he not earned the rite to retire as a Capital? Moving him, having him sign with another club is unthinkable.

He will never play a game for an NHL team that isn't the Washington Capitals. He's said multiple times he wants to play his whole career here, and he's already dropped hints about a 4 year extension to line up with Backstrom's new contract. He's not going anywhere, and hopefully breaks Gretzky's record for us.

Can you imagine him in another uniform? As if the universe had shifted. Up is down. Left is right, and so on.
