Playoff push because I cant accept fate

Created by: RalphMac

Description
This team just gets me going, and breaks my heart. In attendance of the 'Nucks game last night, and boy, even with this ragtag group they show glimpses of being special. With that being said, this is not a serious thread (or is it) for the wild to make room for Kap on the left, make a push for the playoffs, and then lose in the first round. Also, if you want to make the playoffs Billy G, Stalock is your number 1, dub is 2. Vice versa if you want to tank.

But wheres the spot for Kap, koivu retires mayhew or khovanov slide to center kap one the left, foligno on the right.

Donato is a skill forward with a shoot first mentality and is just looking for somewhere he can see the ice consistently. He has been very up and down for the wild. Wild don't trade this years 1st to hedge if they miss playoffs and end up in lottery next year has no provisions to the pick. Hartman is a solid role player on a decent contract, even with retention.

Domi could potentially resign with wild, which i personally would love

I understand what you are saying and I understand what you are going through...but no way is this team in a position to give up future 1sts for a (potential) playoff appearance...not with the goalie tandem they have anyways!!

I also caught myself working through some trades to help playoff push with an eye to the future. The reality is Fiala would have to be consistently this good the rest of the season, Greenway would have to find his gritty side which might not be there, and Dumba would have to be more offensively productive. Top that all off with Dubnyk taking the rest of the season off and kahkonen stepping in to be great. Maybe we could make playoffs without all that but what's the point if you can't bring Stanley home.
Any of you know if Kaprizov can join the Wild for a playoff run if Wild did make it?

I hear ya, but 2020 draft is wayyyy deeper than 2021, we have some pretty decent prospects (not a ton). I am fine either way, this is just a thought and if we somehow someway could dump dubnyk somewhere i would be immensely happy

Any attempts to be a playoff team and go anywhere need to involve a top 6 center coming in and a goalie coming in to replace Dubnyk. Staal can't be the only center scoring points and Stalock isn't good enough on a consistent basis to take this team anywhere, so they'd absolutely need these 2 things coming in.

He can if they sign him right after the KHL season but it'll burn a year of his contract and make it so they have to protect him in the expansion draft I think? Maybe not that second part.

He would not have to be protected in the expansion draft. He would need to be a 3rd year pro at the time of the draft to be eligible. Since he'd have this year and next, he'd only have 2 pro seasons, he is exempt no matter what.

As for if he could even burn a year of his deal, we'd have to make it to about game 5 of the second round (depending on exact scheduling) for him to be able to play assuming CSKA doesn't allow him to sign before his contract officially expires. There's basically zero chance of him being on the ice for us before October.
