MTL might accept but most likely we will keep Kovalchuk who since arriving has been that needed extra something to get us away from constant 1 goal loses .
we're 7-3-0 in the past 10 and to be honest like Domi he's thrived under pressure in MTL media spotlight that kills most players we bring in .

it makes more sense to keep him with the team especially given he's got 9 points in 16 games including 7 in the past 6 since being moved to Center when Kotkanemi got scratched initially.
with Kovalchuk -Armia playing Suzuki's wing in 4/5 games as he heats up .

we want our first Calder Trophy winner since Ken Dryden
Kovalchuk staying helps us get that after 50 years

I can't speak for the value as I don't know the players from Detroit very well. But I like the players coming in. Manta can score and has size. Svechnikov is 23 and could possibly be kn the verge of being called a bust and/or he may not be part of the rebuild plans. McIlrath is the same and could be a good depth addition

Detroit isn't trading Mantha. Galchenyuk is a UFA and won't sign in Detroit so he has zero value to Detroit. Simon is a bottom 6 guy that might hit double digits in goals for the first time in his NHL career. Bjugstad is a solid player a middle 6 guy. Last season he 14g - 12a = 26p in 64 games and Mantha had 25g - 23a = 54p in 67 games. Légaré is probably the next best piece in this deal after Mantha but he is still young and has yet to play an NHL game. I've read quite a bit on Légaré recently he tough player likes to go to the dirty areas. He isn't a great skater but he does have skill that they would like to see him use more like Bertuzzi and Wilson. Still most scouts see him as a 2nd line player. While you have offered some good pieces I just don't think it gets you Mantha.

Stop with the garbage returns, Pittsburgh doesn't have the pieces to get Mantha out of Detroit. At least nice young core pieces to build around anyways. Detroit laughs at that.

Detroit says no.
The penguins don't want Kovalchuk. He doesn't play defense. He only cherry picks. He won't fit in there.
