Finishing the Roster

Created by: FrustratedToronto
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs

Description
Just having a bit of fun. I know the Leafs won't make four trades sending out four roster players and bringing in 33% of a new D core at one deadline... but I wish they would.

TRADE 1 (NJD)
I don't know if Ceci is going to be back before the deadline but if he is, pay a pick and drop him off to a selling team with cap room.

TRADE 2+3 (VGK and CGY)
Hague for the future. Have him play training camp with Muzzin, get Barb to work on his footwork. Set up deal with Calgary for Reaves. They wanted him in the offseason, could still be interested. Either way, Vegas needs cap out to take in. Reeves is expendable to them and the Leafs don't need him with Clifford.

TRADE 4 (OTT)
Pending UFA who will likely have suitors. Maybe Toronto can throw some prospects and picks for him and get first crack at extending him.

TRADE 5 (CAR)
Carolina will want a defensive prospect, I chose to keep Sandin. They like Kapanen, they've been linked before, I think this might be the package to get Pesce. Might need a pick though...

Dermott gets traded in the offseason. We need him right now with Rielly out.

Seems like a big price for Vegas to pay for the not very good Barrie. DeMelo should get better than a 3rd rounder. Doesn't Carolina need Pesce for their playoff push?

Brett Pesce is by far better then Josh Manson, That's a package you give up for Manson not Pesce.

Pesce is not going anywhere on the team friendly deal he signed

Vegas isn't using Hague, he's buried in their depth chart, and have always needed a RHD who carries the puck well. They went after Karlsson twice because of it. Barrie is cheaper by comparison.

You may be right about Demelo. Hard to figure out what defensive D's who are an impending UFA goes for.

Maybe. Liljegren is about NHL ready and Kappy gives them a boost. His name has been linked to trades a lot so he was the easy choice but the same or similar packages can apply to Manson.

I have taken your Pesce opinions and altered the trade to pick up Manson instead.
