      Joki straight up

yeah sure a player who's shown he can score 70+ points with 3rd line players on his wing , lets give him away for a player who's established value is essentially Ylonen (A Nylander has been dissapointing in CHI to )

to me it goes like this .

Domi and a 5th(2nd might be stretching it but not by much so MTL adds a 5th to help balance things)
      for
jokiharu , Rodriguez and a 2nd (rodriguez is a decent player who's an RFA but likely to just signing a 1 year to get to his 27th birthday when he becomes a UFA by )

or and the one i prefer :
Domi and a 2nd (a 1st is reaching even though the players taken are less skilled in MS case or at a career low value in CM )
      for
      Samuelsson , Miller and a 1st (top 10 protected)

Miller was a Julien guy in BOS so im kinda hoping he can rebound here and he can work out for a number for reasons including if he gains value we can expose him at the draft and protect Chiarot indirectly . Until then he's a solid 3rd pair RD that allows us to keep Fleury developing in Laval so we dont break him like Beaulieu and Tinordi .
Samuelsson if we're lucky will one day become a Ben Chiarot type player . He's got size , hockey IQ , alright speed for a 6'4 220+ pound big hitter.
i think if developed right he's you're ideal 3rd pair guy who will play both PP and PK at around 20-22 minutes a night in his prime maybe a little more .
the 1st is the real interest here because whether its this year or next an extra top prospect to develop will help us fill out the holes left behind by Suzuki,Kotkanemi and soon Poehling .

Whole heartedly disagree with your take on Jokiharju. He’s been very good this year, and of course is very young and cheap.

That being said, the Colin Miler package deal sounds intriguing. If GMJB can acquire another 1st round pick (say from a Risto deal) it becomes very doable.

I'm a bigger fan of the 2nd deal myself as well

Henri j is fine enough but just not for us is all with Weber , Petry and an expansion draft just around the corner we only have 1 Dman we can protect as is thanks to their NMC/NTC.

now getting a NCAA guy(i think he was anyways) , NHL'er we wouldnt mind losing in the expansion who can fill a void now and a pick which is obviously the main motivation here .

If you wanted to do a deal for Henri J with pieces that are as Certain or Uncertain depending on if you're glass half full or empty , then sure i'd do that .
Poehling for jokijaru straight up for example and i covet our Power Center but i feel the value is about the same as is their upside
not that it matters but Eichel gets another American to play with and Kotkanemi gets another Finn

but i'd still rather not trade for him because i think BUF values him similar to how we value Poehling. (i'm sure a habs fan will tell me off soon for even suggesting Poehling haha)

My takeaway is that Max Domi seems like he is definitely expendable to the Habs and checks every single box for the Sabres. He can takeover 2C until Cozens is ready, has chemistry with Reinhart from the WJC, can move to the wing if Cozens is ready sooner than expected. Fun times.

      excellent take away .

and its not that i'd say he's expendable but more or Less Suzuki emerging as a top 6 Center who's actually pushed Domi's line to 3rd has forced our hand .
its either move Domi or keep KK and Poehling in the AHL . even moving Domi only creates 1 real spot for our 2 centers .

we could move Domi to wing except Tatar, Gallagher , Drouin and Armia have all earned the right to top 6 wing positions and even Lehkonen's making a case for himself .
I love Domi but the only way to reasonably keep him is to move out Danault or Gallagher. (moving Tatar is not enough to keep us under the cap 2021-22 after 3/4 of our team needs contracts 2021 summer)

Moving Domi for a profit is just the easiest way to go because Fans arent ready to give up on Gallagher or the Center who's been by him 3 seasons including both his 30 goal outtings .

Should I go for Anderson instead of the Foligno's bros and resign Kovalchuk in july?

i'd get Marcus he's a top 20 hitter on a good year , the only NHL player to fight Tom Wilson and hold a winning record over him plus 20 points for a 3/4th liner is solid .

Nick is good to but is just a big body who's a great leader .

      maybe Foligno /Fiala package?
Fiala's speed fits our system and we could use a middle 6 RW to play long term between Gallagher and Armia (so we're not rushing Caufield or trying to force a center to wing like Poehling)

Trade them Tatar since we got Lefreniere in this post
Drouin up top , AL with Suzuki

      Drouin-Danault -Gallagher (the standard )
Lefreniere-Suzuki-Kovalchuk (best mentor ever for the kids)
      Lehkonen-Kotkanemi- Fiala
Foligno-Poehling-Armia (all Power Forward line , could be 4th or 1st on any given night )
      Byron

      Murray-Petry
      Romanov-Weber
Chiarot-Benning (better to let Fleury develop in Laval and when he forces our hand call him up and trade Benning for a pick)
      Kulak

Jesse Puljujarvi looks great in Liiga having his first real season where he seems happy since being drafted and turning pro .
i'd leave him over there another year to develop and when he's the #1 player in that league with a deep playoff run bring him over ready to produce just

Fiala we can just keep long enough to turn a profit on like Tatar as we'll hopefully help him hit new career highs
