Suzuki Calder Run Part Deux

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2020
Published: Feb. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Different direction this time just targeting Saad from CHI
They're likely to move him before his NTC in his final year makes their TDL in 2021 fun .

Byron @ 1.7m cap (to keep or flip),Middle 6 RFA,your 2nd round pick back this year (so a high pick lol) and a 3rd in 2022 that becomes a 2nd in 2021 if Saad wins a playoff round with MTL before the 2021 draft .

This is what i believe Saads value is factoring we cannot move him at the TDL in 2021 freely as he has a 10 team list he can be traded to in his final year.

Suzuki's up one spot to 3rd in the Rookie race just 5 points behind Hughes and 6 behind Makar it appears to be within striking distance as Suzuki since being moved to Center and having Kovalchuk on his win has 8 points in 7 games and still heating up .

It would be the first time since Dryden whom lead us to multiple championships as the cornerstone of our Dynasty. One can only hope Suzuki can have atleast half as much success
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Schneider, Cory ($1,375,000 retained)
Additional Details:
even cap , even term , even swap
NJD
  1. Alzner, Karl
Additional Details:
worst case scenario they switch AHL teams
best case 1/2 or both find a way back into the NHL in a supporting role position .
2.
MTL
  1. Laavainen, Roope [Reserve List]
  2. Saad, Brandon
Additional Details:
4.3m cap savings over 2 years allowing CHI to sign another player of value . CHI could turn around and Trade Byron immediately at the cap for a profit to another cap strapped team like TBL or EDM
CHI
  1. Byron, Paul ($1,700,000 retained)
  2. Lehkonen, Artturi
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (CHI)
  4. 2021 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Byron @ 1.7m for 3 years after this season.
for a cash strapped team this will likely have value given his speed , his physicality despite his size , his leadership,is ability to get the pick deep in the OZ and his goal scoring ability

Youth stepped up quicker then expected and put MTL in a position where even Domi might go because he's in Suzuki and Kotkanemi's way .

So essentially doing Chicago a service by letting them trade Saad? He's clearly on his decline and with his contract, MTL would ask for a bigger price.

Byron might have a good value, but he's in the IR since Nov 15. No team would consider him ''playoff ready''.

Lekhonen is also a good middle 6 forward. MTL would be losers in this trade scenario.

I do like the Schneider trade tho...

15 goals . . . . . . . that has value , always has ... here's a secret ... it always will

you can always spot someone who looks at points only then jumps to conclusions but how much they spout off dramatically like they're revealing something shocking.

Also since when is Chicago '' playoff ready''

i'm done reading your comment it lacks reality

I've seen this Alzner for Schneider idea more than once and I feel like its been declined more than once.

1) Even at 1.375M retained, Habs are paying more actual money for Schneider than Alzner.
2) Having a cap dump as a dman is slightly more valuable than a goalie.
3) Heck even the buyout is cheaper overall for Alzner.
4) He'd be taking valuable playing time a way from Primeau and Lindgren.

Sure, the Habs have oodles of cap space and in the grand scheme of things it won't really change anything but it has to at least have a small benefit in some way for it to make sense. The best case scenario that could possibly happen is Schneider becomes Price's backup. How much you wiling to bet that would happen based on what you've seen from Kinkaid, Niemi, etc etc

Schneider will be 34 when this trade happens. The odds of this deal working out better than even whatever Alzner is giving Laval right now is so low that its basically no win chance trade. It makes more sense to buyout Alzner than to trade him for Schneider. The only scenario that COULD work is if NJD retain 50% on Schneider. Making his actual salary less than that of Alzners. But even than why would NJD want do that? Just to take a low percentage chance on Alzner? If that is your gain, might as well just bite the bullet and buyout the players.

I look at points, sure. But also advanced analytics like Corsi, Fenwick and PDO.

Saad has drastically declined in both offensive production and defensive reliability in the last year.

He might have 15 goals right now, but you know who else almost does? Joel Armia (14G), who is getting paid way less than Saad, has more points and a better +/-

Would you trade Armia for the equivalent of the trade shown above? I don't think so...

Byron being playoff ready is a metaphor for any team currently hoping to make the playoffs. I wasn't refering to Chicago specificaly.

Reality is subjective, my dude.

dude just stop

if you could admit when you were wrong and evolve like most of us on here i'd be open to debate .
but you're not you just make crap up hoping people dont notice the huge oversight you made in your comment that made it pointless.

Saad has negative Cori and Fenwick? no
you're trying to make it seem like that while ignoring its happened at the same rate to Kane and Toews making it a team problem

how i know you're full of crap is he's got higher advanced stats then Kane and Toews in their decline
do your research dont just glance at a stats page and assume its all on 1 player .... dont be lazy and prove it before spouting off

Reality is not up for debate
Your grasp on stats is however
Everyone knows you dont single out unless you see the systems play
if you had you'd see Saad leads his team in advance corsi and fenwick

Saad is definitely not on the decline at only 27. His stats are amazing as he's produced very good corsi and fenwick numbers on a poor Hawks team. Despite playing with average linemates he still scores consistently which amazes me. Watching him play I noticed he takes good shots too, not just weak wristers into the goalie's crest. I think this makes his corsi numbers better than they indicate. His PDO is also low which indicates with a little more luck his stats could be better. He's been so good that us Hawks fans contemplate trading Debrincat instead of Saad. Hope this clears things up.
