No way MTL lets Kovy go for Sanford. Add a 2nd round pick and a prospect to that.

He's not worth that but MTL is battling for a wild card so they aren't going to let him go cheaply

Uhh what are you on? We could have signed him for free a month ago.

Blues laugh and hang up to all of these.

And since this thread wasn't created by you, it's normal you don't want him in STL.

My point was; Sanford isn't worth Kovy one for one. MTL is suddently back into the playoff race by a thin margin because of him. He, along with a few others, helped spark up a revival for that team.

Sure, it might not translate into Kovy helping another team hoping to go far into the cup run. But there is « hype » around his name, and therefore value is inflated.

Same thing happened with Gaborik a few years back. He got traded to LA from CBJ and helped them win the stanley cup.

1-By "we" I meant the Blues.
2-That's quite debatable.
3-That's all well and good, and I'm not arguing any of it for plenty of teams, but it doesn't apply to the Blues. Army has a way he goes about things, and this ain't it.

Army has definitely traded for pure rentals. Publicly he’s stated the Blues aren’t looking for depth players. If the right deal comes along for an impact player (top 6) Army will make it happen.

Kovy might not be thought of as highly as a Kreider but he would certainly cost a lot less. It’s been reported the Habs would want at least a 2nd for Kovy if they move him. Sanford’s trade value is a 2nd but actually better. Most 2nd round picks don’t have NHL careers.

Oh he did it once upon a time, it sucked and he hates the concept now. I didn't say he never did it, just that he likely won't now unless it excludes certain assets. And excluding those assets probably won't get the player he'd want. So it's a slim shot all the way around.
