The Sharks can not “fix” themselves unless they can deal one of those ridiculous contracts on defence. Meier is one of the few bright spots the club has. His value must used (if the idea to move him is an option) as a sweeter to move a bad contract.

As it stands, San Jose is stuck with too many NMC/NTC, and lack flexibility with the cap. Looking at the Shark’s farm, they have a good selection of youth to fill vacant spots and do it affordably.

We could do better on Dillon, Ho sang is done, also a pretty awful Meier trade. He wouldnt move for a retool, that would be a rebuild

We really, really don't. The Barracuda are both the youngest and worst team in their division this season. Yes, it's likely that some of those players will turn out to be bottom six guys, but with the possible exception of Sasha Chmelevski & a couple of other players who we've already tried out (to varying degrees of success - True and Letunov seem promising, but it's only been 2 games) they all likely need at least one more year in the AHL to develop.

I'm hopeful that some of the drafted players from the last few years will be able to come up and bolster our mostly empty cupboards, but unless that happens we're pretty much grasping at straws.

I do agree with the majority of your comment though, and I think that moving Meier is a dumb idea.
