All of those teams are better than Edmonton if you take away McDavid and Draisaitl. Watch whats going to happen over the next 2-3 weeks with McDavid out. Shut down Draisaitl and the Oilers will lose every game.

If you take out the top two players from those teams as well, maybe. But if we are just taking away the best 2 players from any team and then seeing what would happen if the other team was at full strength. Edmonton is hopelessly outmatched. The top line would be RNH with Kassian and Archibald. That is a 2/3C with 2 4th liners. And the rest of the team is all 4th liners or AHL players. It would be an unmitigated disaster if you lost both those guys for any extended length of time. It's going to be really bad with just McDavid out of the lineup for the next while.

That is such a funny trophy. What player is more important to their team right now than McDavid is to the oilers? Even if they miss the playoffs which is a distinct possibility now that you are going to have to go without for 2-3 weeks, he still deserves all the votes. No one is more important to his team than McDavid is to the Oilers. No one comes close.

Agreed, more or less. But it's Draisaitl who leads the league in scoring, and if he carries the team over the next 3 weeks he's a shoe-in for the Hart IMO.

He also hasn't spent the past however many games playing with Archibald and Kassian. 2 border line 4th liners (Kassian is definitely an NHLer, Archibald is a 4th liner)

Correct. Since December 31st (14 games), their 5v5 P/60 looks like this:

Draisaitl: 3.28 P/60 (16th in the league)
Yamamoto: 3.24 (18th)
Nugent-Hopkins: 3.23 (19th)
Sheahan: 2.56 (51st)
McDavid: 2.12 (92nd)

So he's still scoring at a 1st line rate, but only just barely.

And for the next 2-3 weeks, Draisaitl is going to have to score against the oppositions best defenders without McDavid drawing those assignments. Also their PP will suffer greatly without McDavid. Unless Draisaitl continues to score at the same pace he has over the past 14 games, Edmonton is in huge trouble. McDavid is

McDavid's impact is so massive. Even with two 4th liners as wingers, he scores at a top line pace. He does that without any support and now Draisaitl is going to have to carry the team without McDavid pulling tough matchups away from him.
