A possible avenue to Manson via Hurricane Way

Description
This is not me saying that this will be the exact deal, but since Anaheim seems to value RHD prospects and Toronto would be very hesitant to move Liljegren, I could see this type of framework happening for a deal. Carolina needs a puck-moving RHD right now but doesn't want the long-term commitment. Anaheim gets a future RHD (2-3 years away, fitting with their window), Kapanen who can be used for further assets or as a player. Maybe this isn't enough for them (or more accurately for their fans) but as I said, this is meant to provide a framework for what a deal might look like, not prescribe the deal.

Nashville has a couple of young RHD's options playing very well in the AHL I could see a similar type of move happening. But flipping Barrie for futures and then moving those futures to Anaheim in a larger deal makes sense to me. Just trying to have a little fun and see what else could happen.

Guys listed under scratches are the ones I could see competing for 4th line icetime with the loss of multiple forwards.

There's this wonderful salary cap thing that Carolina would be over. Plus, they don't need a puck moving RD. Slavin, Gardiner and Fleury all do that on their respective pairs. They need any form of D man to sit in the top 4 while Dougie is out

Because I don't think Anaheim wants to do that deal. Finding somebody who wants Barrie and getting assets for him to send to Anaheim is a way to facilitate the trade happening. Why would Anaheim have any interest in Barrie?

You're right, they would be over by about 100K. Toronto can retain 10% of Barrie's contract (or around 280K) to make up the difference. I disagree that Carolina couldn't use Barrie, Hamilton's absence is creating big problems for them.

Carolina are 5-2-1 without Dougie. No it isn't. Carolina would be over by about 2 mil, Dougie isn't on LTIR, he's IR. His cap still counts. Carolina are fine for puck movers. Gardiner seems to have woken up, and it's bailing them out
