Pens fans - Labanc Dillon coming in a big trade

Created by: yikes
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 10, 2020
Published: Feb. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Looking for opinions on a potential trade.

Gauging a value as Dillon is going to be asking a market of 2nd -> 2nd plus prospect or conditions to upgrade or a singular decent (B-B+/A prospect just depends really).

Labanc’s value is all over the place but I’d like equate it to more then Kreider the top deadline winger (just my opinion). So let’s say Kreider gets a 1st plus a B prospect or something (has to be less the hall).

Just going to throw my opinion/ look on the trade itself but counters/ your opinion a trade look, obviously open to complete different trades then the one I suggest.
Trades
SJS
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  2. Murray, Matt
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Labanc = Murray just a swap + maybe some of the thirds value
POJ = Dillon (Retention) + Thornton retention
Thornton kinda tossed in but
Dell+Jumbo(I guess) for the third
PIT
  1. Dell, Aaron
  2. Dillon, Brenden ($1,627,520 retained)
  3. Labanc, Kevin
  4. Thornton, Joe ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Aaron Dell has been quite great as of late, the only reason the sharks have won games in the last 2 months. Maybe a change of scenery helps Murray?

I don’t think the pens are interested in trading Murray unless it’s for a kings ransom. Murray has been playing phenomenal the past month or so. Actually been up to par if not better than Jarry recently.

I would say you are right on the mark with Labancs value. Right around the same as Kreider. RFA status and cheap deal help him a lot but Kreiders Physical presence for the playoffs and goal scoring touch even it out. Murray is an interesting offer thats a lot of trust to putnin Jarry for his 1st playoff run.

I was unaware (to my own negligence).

If so then no reason to trade him as

The Penguins are committed to keeping both goalies through the season, especially now that Murray is not playing badly anymore. So this wouldn't happen.

But if it were me, I would do it. Dell has actually been better than Murray this year by pretty much every measure. Labanc is very good. Dillon and Thornton, particularly Dillion would be really helpful. Dumoulin is still injured and Marino is now inured as well.

If Jarry were to take control of the net and claim the starter spot through the playoffs, I could see a draft day trade including Murray and Lebanc, but definitely not right now. Also, Murray is going to cost a ton.

You see Labanc and Kreider as the same level? Really? I haven't gotten to see Kreider play but Labanc is painfully inconsistent, bad defensively, still seems penalty prone and has very little physical strength. For what I've read, Kreider isn't a star, but is a very good all-around player and a top-line winger. Labanc is a middle-six winger with some boom/bust potential. Salary wise, Kreider sounds like a $7-8 million/year guy in comparison to Labanc who could be anywhere between $3 and $5 million/year

Oh no Kreider is certainly better but Labanc is an RFA right handed shot on a sweetheart contract
