What about Marleau? I feel like he might have a good impact on the roster and I can almost picture him wearing the Leafs' blue and white!

Leafs don't really need players on the left wing.

Plekanec and Baun
for
2nd round pick , Rychel and Valiev (pick became J.Olofsson and prospects became Kulak)

Thornton and a 3rd round pick
for
2nd round pick

seems a bit confusing to me
BOS would surely pay a 2nd round pick to screw TOR if nothing else

Thornton isnt really needed, the leafs dont have an issue at C right now and Ron Hainsey is awful and bad and would make the team worse. Experience is useless if you cant play the game at a high enough pace

Hainsey is to add depth in case on injury during cup run. He is better than Marincin.

No, he isnt. Marincin isnt very good, but Hainsey is slower, older, more expensive even with the retention.

I don't really understand why Hainsey is so lowly regarded. Sure he is not the player he used to be but gees. He plays 20 minutes a night for Ottawa (4th on the team in ice time), He is 3rd on the team in+- at +4 on a team that is -41. He kills penalties. He is still a solid bottom 3 D.

Do I want him back in Toronto at this point - no. I Like giving the Kids (Sandin and Liljegren) a chance to show what they got and improve with the experience.

Because +/- is a garbage stat and tells you literally nothing. He plays a lot and PK's on a crap team, which also tells you nothing. He's bad, and is not a solid bottom pairing defender. He is genuinely terrible and not worth a 7th
