Miska has been a solid tandem option in net for the Colorado Eagles. He’s been particularly strong of late and, arguably, is the best goaltender in the AHL on an AHL (only) contract.

We’re gonna have to find another goalie to wear that crown (and hint: there aren’t many goalies in the AHL not signed to NHL contracts). This is a market efficiency the Avs are taking advantage of, picking up one of the best goalies in the North America not signed to an NHL contract.

As it stood, the Avs were 3 goalies deep, for all intents and purposes. This signing gives the Avs a 4th strong option they hope they never have to use.

Avs had Goalie injuries in the early Winter this season and now have 4 goalies with an nhl win this year. Miska under contract now gives Colorado 5. Not sure who you forgot but the Avs have Grubauer, Francouz, Warner, Bibeau, and now Miska under contract. In a perfect world (as an Avs fan) only the first 2 will see nhl ice time the rest of the season.

I omitted Bibeau as the way he’s been playing I don’t think he’s a realistic NHL option. Miska arguably jumps to being the Avs 4th stringer ahead of Bibeau - part of the reason why they signed him. But yes, for goodness sake, let’s hope it’s just an academic discussion.
