No he isn't Byfuglien hasn't even skated since like last April. It would take him the rest of what's left in the season just to get into game shape. He's not playing this year. Perhaps next season not this season.

Byfuglien is not your ordinary hockey player and tends to do what he wants to do regardless of what the so called hockey experts think, so I would not put it past him to come back this year. The Leafs have one of the best medical departments in the NHL which might be very attractive to Byfuglien in comming back from his injury. Leafs could also obtain assistance from Alex McKechnie of the Raptors as both teams owned by same ownership group to rehab his injury and develope a load management program similar to Kawhi for Byfuglien. This might be very attractive for him to sign with Leafs. He could then use rest of season and playoffs to prove to hockey world that he wants to be back playing in the NHL and then can sign a new substantial UFA deal after season with Leafs or any other team.

Fans can joke about Byfyuglien but the players know he is a tremendous hockey player and great teammate and will have your back. Thought he really put Evander Kane in his place when he was messing up and hurting his own team on the Jets.

For his size, the dude could always skate, which is the name of the game. Adding in his other attributes, he was a beast. Likely, the CBh most devestaing personnel loss of the past decade.

Word is he hasn't skated yet and, knowing Byfuglien, he's probably sitting close to 350lbs. He plays around 260, so I can't see him playing this year. I think he'll play next season but I have doubts he can get jntongame shape after such a long period off before the playoffs start.

Putting a 400 pounder in front of your net might be better defense than what the Leafs currently play tbh
