This is a really bad trade for the Leafs and especially to trade Mikehev who has huge upside.

Mikehev has damaged nerve in wrist and probably out for season and playoffs unless he makes it back for playoffs. He is a young Russian UFA signing out of KHL who was putting up close to a point a game with Leafs and playing second and third lines prior to suffering a freak injury.

Why Ivan Lodnia? Just curious if you selected him for a reason or just a random prospect to balance contracts.

Not sure on what the specifics would be, but I was thinking something based on how far the Leafs get in the playoffs.

Lodina had really high upside early on in his career and he has a good chance of becoming a 4th line option for the Leafs. Could be Jack McBain or Nico Sturm instead.

But they are getting a proven top NHL defenseman who could definitely help for years.

Ladnia really isn't anything special. MN didn't even want him on the AHL team this year so he's playing as an overager in the CHL. Longshot to ever see then NHL and probably ends up in Europe after his ELC.

Yes, that is true but the cost is too high in that Liljegren is a right hand defenceman with huge upside and will be playing years after Dumba retires and Mikheyev who is a young forward with huge upside while Dumba is an expensive older defenceman who plays good offense but poor defence and appears to be starting his decline curve as an NHL defenceman.

This is what i dont understand of other Leaf fans, everyone wants a Top 4 RHD. But you are not willing to give anything of actual value back. You want Dumba but you only are willing to give a 2nd round pick at most. If you want something of value you need to exchange something of value. 1 1/2 Years of Muzzin was worth a 1st, a Top 9 Prospect and a Solid Junior prospect. What do you actually think 3 1/2 Years of Dumba is going to cost you LESS? I can tell you now the price STARTS with Liljegren (Top 4 Defence prospect) & at least a Top 9 Junior prospect or a 1st/2nd

I agree. If Toronto wants a top defenseman for a shot at the cup, they have to give up more than Bracco and a 1st.
