Overpaying JPG and Toffoli do the opposite of solving the issues in Buffalo, Buffalo is on its way to a cap crunch with nothing to show for it,the last Buffalo should do is sign FA from this year's middle to bottom 6 class

Buffalo has over 30 million in cap space this offseason. But I agree these moves are horrible

It's not this offseason that's concerning, Rienhart is due a real nice pay raise and will require it to stay in Buffalo long term, the season after they have Dahlin and Jokiharju due, also have Montour this year, it's really less space then most think

As much as I love JGP and the idea the Sabres would get him, I’m not huge on Toffoli coming here. It also concerns me investing $20 mill in just your second line. Plus you’d need to shake up the Ehlers trade to get it even close to working, and you didn’t get nearly enough back for Ristolainen, all while completely screwing the D-core. We’ve got a #1, 2 top-4’s, and a whole bunch of maybes at the NHL level.

Ehlers isn't being moved. GM said he's now "playing too well". Not sure VAN would even trade Madden for Risto straight up.

And after next season McCabe, Hutton and Johansson free up 11 million more and that's without moving ristolanen or miller, or okposo getting bought out/buried/LTIR

The Skinner contract along with Okposo could put the Sabres in a cap crunch, especially if Skinner remains buried by Kreuger. It’s not a good look or good value to be paying a one dimensional scorer 9 million to get 11 goals in 50 games, granted, maybe it wouldn’t be as bad if the Sabres had any depth down the middle, so yes you are correct, with Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart here, they are potentially headed for a cap crunch
