I was wondering just yesterday what it would cost the sens to acquire Dumba. I don't think you're far off, but Guerin would be looking at one of our own picks not one that we pick up in a trade. So would you be willing to move a potential top 5 pick for Dumba? How about Norris and 2 2nds? I'm pretty sure Dorion (aka: Melnyk) has no intention of adding Dumba's salary during a full on rebuild. I like the idea tho...very interesting...

Sorry can someone explain why OTT would even want Dumba?

1. He is having an incredibly off year.

2. He will have 3 more years on his contract, so he will be up for a huge new contract right when we are looking to sign Lafreniere/Byfield/Stutzle to their big contracts

3. Were not looking to compete, why would we be giving our 1/2C and a 1st for a guy who might not be on the team when we ARE looking to make a playoff run

4. Dumba is an offensive D (who btw isnt producing as such). He is a negative CF% player. We need defensively responsible RHD to pair with our offensively gifted LHD Chabot and Brannstrom

------------------

In conclusion... I would 100% not make the Dumba trade.

Cool with everything else though

I would hope the Sens refuse to trade their pick and SJ pick this year. Far too valuable at this stage of the rebuild. Josh Norris seems to be exceeding his development expectations in Belleville, particularly after coming back from a season-ending injury last year. As a Sens fan, my personal belief is that Logan Brown's potential (and work ethic) make him more expendable than Norris. In terms of salary, Dumba's $6 mil is more than doable as the Sens struggle to reach the cap floor for a few more years. And @ 25 yrs old, he is worth the risk. Team friendly contract for a potential top 2 dman. Can't see it happening either, but it is intriguing.

Totally respect where you're coming from re Dumba. I'm a fan of his. Admittedly he's having an off year this year. But he was on pace for a career year last year and put up 50 pts the year before. He's only 25 and his $6 mil cap hit is very doable for the Sens. Even with Chabot's contract kicking in next year and Tkachuk not far behind, the Sens are a few years away from being an upper cap team. I'm not sold on Logan Brown - hope I'm wrong on that one. We have a defensively sound right-handed dman coming in soon in Bernard-Docker and based on his play at the WJC, I couldn't be more excited to see him as a cornerstone of the Sens for years to come.

Anyway, I think we can all agree that there are bright days ahead for the Sens. We might even give Dorion credit in a few years for crafting a competitive team. Cheers.
