Absolutely love your cap space, possibly closer to $17M with s higher ceiling. Lehner, in goal, could be another option as well. There may be some nice higher end RHD who might want to play for SY and the DRW. Good luck.

I think Lehner will want too much money. Plus as Bernier is looking like a solid #1 these days. Best to keep him as the starter going into next season at 3 mil.

Torey Krug is an Option, but he's likely to stay in Boston
Jake Muzzin is also and Option, but he's likely to stay in Toronto
Out of the other UFA Dman there's not much I'd be interested in having on the books other than Pietrangelo who most definitely won't be leaving St.Louis for Detroit.

Hence I never bothered to add any UFA D Men, Seider and Lindstrom can hopefully make the jump. And hopefully Dekeyser has a healthy year or else it will be groundhog day for the Wings.

Lehner seems to value term at least as much as money from what I have understood. I think he could be had for 7X $7M, which would be very doable in your scenario. He is Chicago's lone bright spot defensively most nights and should be playing more than he is.
Barrie and Schultz may also be available or trading for Ristolianen(?) could happen as well.
In either way, the wings won't be down for very long now that Yzerman is back, imo.

I think Detroit needs to spend money on defense, not goaltending. Handing out 7 mil for 7 years on a goalie wouldn't be wise. Especially if Bernie can keep up his play and only commands 3 million per year.

If they do make a big splash the only guy they should do it on is Krug, at 7 years in the 8-9 mil range.

But with Yzerman, I honestly see him signing less flashy veterans this July on 1 or 2 year deals so they aren't bogged down with Abdelkader type contracts in the future when they need to hand out contracts to guys like Zadina, Seider, Hronek and this years top 4 pick pick (Lafreienere/Byfield/Stutzle/Drysdale) whomever they get.
