What is Buchnevichs value

Description
Don't get to wound up with me if this is way off. I am just curious on the value of Buchnevich and wondering if this is close. For all I know I might be way off in either direction. Just saw that he is now 12th on the TSN trade bait board and is a player that would be a great fit in Edmonton, and the Rangers are a team that had shown interest in Puljujarvi. Curious on what the market is for the player.

I didn't know he was being made available .( Potentially). I think you're pretty close here to fair value. Well done.

Add local boy Tyler Ennis for a pick and the Oilers would upgrade their wing dramatically with your move and my move.

To be fair I don’t know if everyone on that trade bait list has been made available or it TSN only speculates, but usually they’re pretty accurate

ranger fans would hate me for this but your offer is probably an overpayment. depending how much people value jesse.

a couple of comparable players that were traded: André Burakovsky, who brought back a 2nd and 3rd. buch > burakovsky.
Mike Hoffman was traded for a 2nd, 4th and 5th. hoffman > buch.

1 for 1 trades for buch is probably out of the question because how often do you see two top 6 forward traded 1 for 1. the rangers need a top pairing LD but buch is only bringing that back in a package if the rangers add another quality player or high draft pick.

if the rangers do draft buch, which i think they will before the tdl of 2021. it's going to be to dump his upcoming salary raise. picks and prospects makes the most sense. IMHO

now if it was up to me and i had my way, i'd prefer to package him with one of their defensive prospects or the 1st round pick they get for kreider for a top 6 forward.

The way I see it, Puljujarvi is probably worth a mid to high 2nd, and the 2nd next year I added would be mid to late round if all goes according to plan.

So in pure draft capital you’re looking at a pair of mid 2nd rounders for Buch, as well as Khaira who at a million bucks is a good 4th line physical presence for a young team.

I don’t know if they have any interest in moving him, I could see why they would but can understand why they wouldn’t, but if they do he’s a fantastic fit in Edmonton.

i forgot to say before, buch is a rw. the rangers tried him on LW a few times and it didn't work. buch came out and said he hates playing the LW and only wants to play the RW.

That’s fine, Neal seems fine on either side assuming that’s the combination they would use.

The oilers more than any team seem to not generally put much thought into which wing a guy is on, it seems their system is pretty fluid in both ends and wingers cross cross all shift long.

Statistically, the average 2nd round pick has a 25% chance of playing 100 NHL games. Is Puljujarvi not worth more than that? I think he has a much greater chance at 100 (more) NHL games than 1-in-4.

I totally agree with you but I I’m speaking strictly in terms of trade capital. If anyone was willing to give up a first for Jesse he would be gone by now.

Nobosy is going to give up a 1st midseason for a player who can't play this year. It's an offseason deal.

Which wasn’t done last offseason either. There is zero chance that we get a first for Jesse unless we’re adding to him.

I don't think Holland is aiming for a 1st, but "1st value". I.e a 2nd + a prospect, or JP + 2nd for Domi (where JP is assigned the value of a 1st).
