How about Kerfoot, Bracco + Timashov for Jumbo, DIllon + 2022 3rd? Or something like that?

Kerfoot has more valur to the Leafs than he has as a trade piece.

With our cap so tight a guy signed for 3.5 through his prime who can play 3c and top 6 wing is very valuable.

It's very, very hard to get a good 3c not on an ELC for under 4 million. His versatility and cap value is important to a cap stretched team.

You do realize that Joe Thorton was a Leafs fan growing up and this would be great way for him to end his career. Anything can happen in the playoffs and you could have said the same thing about the Blues last year. Thorton understands that the Leafs have a great player group and he might be the guy to put the team over the top.

The Leafs parade will be 3 times the size of the Raptors parade and Thorton will be treated like Kawhi.

Although I may agree with you, TMLSage is by far the bravest person on this site. No matter what criticism he takes.

First Toronto should ensure they'll even get to the playoffs before winning the cup honestly... They're barely in at the moment, with Canes and Panthers only a point behind and with one more game left.

Truthfully the Leafs aren't strong enough to have Thorton ride the bench to a cup ring, it's possible but is also improbable

You and i both know that the Leafs are one of the top teams in the NHL since Sheldon Keefe took over as their head coach and there is no way they will not be in the playoffs this year. There is no reason that the Leafs can not win a cup this year if the hockey gods line up for them this year like the Blues last year.

I have actually gone on record to say that I will actually fly out to Toronto to watch the Leafs either in the arena or at the CN plaza TV if they reach the Stanley Cup finals so your comment is valid.

Hey, maybe now that he has a minimum salary, Marleau is also included for that elusive Cup!

What are you talking about riding the bench as Jumbo would be a key contributor on the Leafs second power play unit. I think he might also find the fountain of youth for a couple of months and start playing like the old Jumbo if he could get his name on the Cup. He would also be idolized accross Canada for comming back home to help Leafs the win a cup. He would also be very motivated to prove Torts wrong when he said Thorton had never won anything when Torts got mad at him.

There are safer options for Thorton to waive for is all, and he'd get 7-12 minutes a night, that's riding the bench, Leafs powerplay doesn't need any help, I like Jumbo and it's totally a very nice thought and all the nostalgia that goes with it but really if he wants to shut Torts up (doubt it's possible) he'd be looking at Colorado, Washington, Tampa, St.Louis, Pittsburgh

Thornton isnt looking for a godly intervention. He would look to join a team with a playoff track record and a strong vet team that has a good chance off the bat.

Panthers also go against above .500 teams 19 times vs Toronto' 18.
They have the same amount against below .500 (7 each) so that game in hand doesn't mean much. The leafs are also getting key injuries back soon, so things are looking up

Leafs have been the hotter team... not that they look like it... but maybe that is a good thing.

There is a valid point to be made on whether Thornton or Marleau (you can add other players in their last season) will waive their NTCs for an opportunity to play on a Cup contender.
But these player probably have a very small trade list. I don't expect the return to be very much.
