6x6 seems to be about the going rate but his value could drop if his production stays down.

Yeah he's getting more than this.

The reason? He's taken a bridge deal. Those examples of yours got signed right after their ELCs.

Expect the contract being around $6,5-7M range, depending on the years...

I criticized nylander and his contract a lot. It’s looking pretty good right now.

Great point(bridge deal). And after last offseasons shorter term deals who knows.
Hopefully is longer than that Timo Meier deal.

God I hope he doesn't get $7m. He has speed and has the work ethic but he doesn't have that much talent.

Consider yourself lucky with him having a bit of an off season. Had he performed like he did last year, he would've had the grounds for asking a Skinner contract...

If he replicated last season's production this year, I would consider 8x8m or the 6x7m you mentioned but still wouldn't give that atrocious contract to a player like Domi. Also, not that it's my choice lol

bad example and you usually have good ones .

Domi signed a bridge deal because he was traded at a career low at which point he had 9 goals in 2 seasons of which 4 were empty net goals.
he was playing so bad it made chucky look good. Domi will either sign at a 6m cap or less longterm or be traded .
with almost all MTL's players needing contracts the next year they cannot afford to walk into a Nylander situation like TML did completely screwing themselves the next year with Mathews , Tavares and then the year after with Marner .

Personally i dont think the Arbitrator gives him a cent over 5.5 m given he goes 3 years between 50 point seasons

Odds are he'll take the short term 2 year deal taking him to his last year of RFA and hope he can hit the jackpot as a UFA the next year. So on a 2 year deal between $5.5-6mil range imo.

Domi took a discount because he sucked for a while.

Just my opinion, but I can't see him taking another discount. I personally believe his next contract is in the ballpark of $6,25-6,75M per year for 3-6 years, or then he signs a Nurse-like $5,5M deal for two years that would allow him to leave as UFA.

I think he can't possibly get higher than 7M based on the season he's having this year. If its 7M though, its over 7-8 years. IMO.

Frankly I'm fine with even 7M. I'm not going to split hairs with our best players when we don't even spend up to the cap anyway.....
