Murphy is not going to be a great fit on the top defensive pair.

I don't see the Leafs moving Dermott at the deadline until they are sure about the health of the rest of their backend.

LOL Muprhy plays a lot of 1st pair minutes in Chicago. Chicago is making a big overpayment here anyway so this trade is never happening.

I will admit I don't know the prospect at all, assuming he's good if you're all LOLing about it.

Just because a guy plays 1st pair minutes on one team doesn't mean he is a first pair D. Cody Ceci played some first pair minutes for us this year, so clearly a Ceci for Murphy deal is on the table right?

Well I'd say you aren't that familiar with Murphy if you don't think he would be the best option as a 1st liner in Toronto. On most teams, Murphy is a #3 or #4. On Chicago or Toronto he's a clear #2 or at worst a #3. If Toronto wants a shut down defensive guy with speed that can press the neutral zone, Murphy is a huge upgrade to anyone they have in that role and he's affordable and young still. Conversely, I'd be shocked if Dermott, while having some upside, ever becomes as good of a player as Murphy; in fact Dermott IMO is never going to be more then a very solid 3rd liner maybe a #4 one day.

No comparison between Ceci and Murphy obviously.

Barratt is averaging 1.07 ppg in college and #15 in points in the NCAA. He's a very solid 3rd line center prospect that we aren't throwing in to a deal.
