Good Teams find ways to win Bad teams find ways to lose

Created by: exo2769
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2020
Published: Feb. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is a BAD team. Sorry, but not sorry. Just go through the 5 game loss streak.

There's an OT triple bounce post, crossbar, Crow loss.
There's a handpass admission that took away a W
There's a Wheeler BS call and 4th period collapse
There's a McDavid less EDM getting outshot 41 to 30 which doesn't happen often for the Hawks.
There's a 49 shot...shut out....Loss. Sorry @ChiHawk I thought that was understood.

This team finds creative ways to lose games. NO, it's not intentional clearly, but they stink.

Sell off the short term assets. ALL OF THEM. Heck if Zucker's getting that kind of return. Saad >>> Zucker. See what you can get for Saad too.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Leivermann, Nick [Reserve List]
  2. Mutala, Sasha [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
a 4th and 7th round pick. WHL and Notre Dame prospects. VERY low trade value here. Hawks just need more propsect to develop.
COL
  1. Smith, Zack
Additional Details:
COL has the 3rd worst PK out of any Playoff Team. Special teams are ways you can lose playoff games. Good Trade Value for a versitle PK specialist.
2.
CHI
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (VGK)
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Vegas likes to push the pace which is what Gus does well. He's not a defensive Dman, but Vegas isn't a slow defensivve team.
VGK
  1. Gustafsson, Erik
  2. Wise, Jake [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Jake Wise is a center @ BU. With Strome/Dach/Barrett all 22 and younger. I'm not so sure he won't just stay 2 more years and decide his own fate. Vegas could use another Center Prospect.
3.
CHI
  1. 2020 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
I've been saying for months now that Mrazek stinks. In the lsat week or 2...CAR fans finally understand what I've been saying. Reimer isn't a good starter either. 25 goals in the last 6 games. Just go get a real goaltender for once.
CAR
  1. Lehner, Robin ($2,500,000 retained)
4.
CHI
  1. Broberg, Philip
  2. Granlund, Markus
  3. Manning, Brandon
  4. Persson, Joel
  5. Russell, Kris
  6. Samorukov, Dmitri
  7. 2020 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
My most controversian move...I understand. Make McDavid happy though! This team can win now with a few minor tweaks...lilke taking most of Chiarelli's F Ups off EDM's hands. It's another way for Holland to just kiss that era good by.
EDM
  1. Crawford, Corey ($3,000,000 retained)
  2. Saad, Brandon
Additional Details:
Clearly he'd have to waive his NMC. EDM has a solid team. This clearly solves their forward depth issue and inconsistent goaltending.

You forgot to sell Murphy to TO for Johnsson, I'll give you a minute to make the correction

The shots were 49 Hawks to Edmonton 20

Move Debrincat and Strome to Edmonton to keep McDavid happy and get back Broberg and obviously more

COL would probably prefer Kampf to Smith if we’re talking PK specialist. Cheaper, younger, and more effective.

I'll clarify. I don't really want to trade Debrincat. It's selling Low. He's a solid forward. Strome...let's see what he's asking for. I wouldn't mind a Strome Jesperi+Brook trade.

Yes, but you also have to know he'll cost ALOT more than a 4th and 7th. Hawks and JC love that guy.

I love the guy too. I’m just saying from COL perspective I’m sure they’d want Kampf. We’ll take Byram back. No worries there. 😂 jk

I agree with you. This team doesn't have that "it" factor that's been a part of previous successful teams. They're shooting pucks back into goalies instead of the other half of the net that's wide open. Caggiula, Kubalik, and Dach all did that just last night. Their passing is off, I've never seen DeBrincat play so bad. Either he misses the net, or shoots it right into the goalies chest. I think the hawks have to move Lehner, Saad, and Gustafsson. Collect as many first rounders as possible, try to move Seabrook in the offseason with one of those 1sts and a prospect. Boqvist and Mitchell are the future of the right side with Murphy being a nice compliment. Maatta is useless, trade him or buy him out, no matter to me. Keith De Haan Gilbert on the left sounds great with Koekkoek and Seeler as extras. They will have tons of cap space to bring some good forwards in. I'd take a long look at Haula. I think they really need to add more proven skill players. Nylander was not proven and he's still struggling. Strome is another conundrum but I think he could have a successful bounce back season next year, but as a 3C? That's not easy. There's just so much going on with this team it's very difficult to navigate their future.
