Get Lehner Back

Created by: JBR409
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2020
Published: Feb. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Isles are currently down 5-0 to the Preds and every goal was the goalies fault (first 3 were Greiss, the next two are Varlamov). Since December 17, both of them have been atrocious, allowing 3+ goals almost every game, not to mention they only have two shutouts combined on the season, compared to 10 last year between Lehner and Greiss.

I mean... Chicago accepts? But if that was a real trade, I'd just stop watching hockey entirely because that is a JOKE

I wouldn’t blame the lack of shutouts this season on Lehner’s departure. It’s so hard to keep an NHL team from scoring, and the game is only getting faster. So much luck goes into a shutout

Lmao we're talking about pending UFA goalie. They'll almost never get a good haul. Look at what for example Bishop got when TB dealt him to LA... Cernak, Budaj and two 7th rounders.

Based on that, you'd be lucky to get a single 1st round pick...

Of all the stuff on this website and THIS is the worst you’ve seen? Literally people post similar **** hourly on here. I’m just going with what everyone else is posting.

The original offer was a draft bust with a bad attitude, a 2nd and 4th for a goaltender who was a vezina finalist on this team last year. So you’re giving spare parts for a goalie who in the NYI system is vezina caliber. That will cost you if you want him.

No I wouldn’t be lucky. It’d be the right move. Prospect + 1st for a goalie who was vezina caliber in the NYI system. You want him back for a playoff run then it’ll cost you. I only put Varlamov in there since you don’t need 3 goalies. You can keep him if you want. And I offered 50% retention. So your vezina goalie is half off. It’s more fair than you let on.

For that example, Bishop was also retained (not half though)

NYI have the cap space, they don't even need the retention. Varlamov alone costs more than Lehner in full...

Just because you want to oversell him to NYI does not mean they'll overpay for him.

And you're delusional if you ever think anyone is paying that much for half a year of Lehner.

At best you can get a prospect, replacement goalie and a conditional 1st depending if he re-signs or not...

A prospect, replacement goalie, and a conditional 1st. So other than the word conditional that’s exactly what I proposed and people laughed at me and said it was terrible yet in your response you’re offering the same package. I don’t get it.

And if I’m overselling him, don’t undersell him. Ho Sang, 2nd and 4th is an awful package. There’s no telling if any of those three pieces ever makes it to the NHL and Chicago has enough reclamation projects (Strome, Koekkoek, Nylander). We don’t need Ho Sang.

Also if NYI pays that much for a cup run then they should just resign him. Everyone calling him a rental forgets they have the option of signing him long term if they want. He’s only a rental if you let him walk.

You wanted Bellows+Varlamov+1st. What I'd offer is Ho-Sang+Greiss+2nd with the condition of the pick becoming 1st if Lehner re-signs. There's a major difference.

Most likely Lehner doesn't want to re-sign with them in the first place, since they let him go just a year ago for free... Would imagine he wants a clean and stable start in some other team with a longer contract, let's say Canes for example.

I asked for a top prospect with NHL potential. I want something for return of my player. I put a question mark next to Bellows to see if that was appropriate asking price or not. He was being traded left and right a month or so ago now all of a sudden NYI fans want to keep him.

As stated before I don’t want Varlamov I just figured NYI doesn’t want 3 goalies.

Bellows sucked a while ago. Now that he has found his game NYI fans are back in the bandwagon in a sense.

Honestly don't see any rental goalie getting a return of that size...
