In regards to the Smith to Detroit trade. Smith was traded for a reason they won't be taking him back. So any offer involving Smith to Detroit isn't going to happen.

It was modeled after the Grubauer/Orpik trade between Colorado and Washington, where the Caps took a little less for Grubauer in lieu of adding an asset to Orpik to clear salary. Detroit seemed like a prime candidate. Regardless, with the Staal move, I just don’t see it happening
