The Leafs aren't (or shouldn't be) in the market for an offensive defenseman. And a defensive defenseman (the few that exist and aren't terrible) wouldn't fit in Keefe's system. What they need is a two-way defenseman who can move the puck and defend it. Someone with size would be a bonus.

Think more Muzzin, less Barrie.

Disagree somewhat. Dumba would be an OK to good addition to any team. Unfortunately on CapFriendly 95% of Dumba trades (or most RHDs) are trades to the Leafs. And most of the trades are severe overpays by the Leafs because of this RHD fascination.
This trade proposed is such a overpay by the Leafs it's laughable. Two NHL regular forwards, a NHL regular Dmen....all those players with years about 10 years of. NHL control and first rounder for 3 years of Dumba. Most teams wouldn't offer more than half of what this offer is.

The absurdity of the trade is that Leafs trade three NHL regulars and first rounder .....years of NHL control for 3 full years of Dumba.
Look at those wingers the Leafs would have to play with the trade of Kapanen and Kerfoot. Does the author of the post really think this helps the Leafs at all?

I agree and we need a better defender not another o dman. I think Brodin is a better fit now and in the future. He might be a LHD but he also experienced at playing on the right and can play a similar role Hainsey played with Reilly last year but is a better puck mover than Hainsey.

This package is insanely high, no thank you. Matt Dumba is a good player. But getting him is too similar to adding Tyson Barrie for my taste. Barrie has clearly shown he is not what the Leafs need.

I wouldn't trade this package for Manson , Parayko or even Dante Fabbro. And those guys are WAY better fits then Matt Dumba.
