They are the youngest team in the league and currently 9 points back. even if Shesterkin carries them every game they will almsot certainly be a 1st round exit due to generally being a small team with lacking postseason experience. This would be a horrible decision by management

If that's all it would take to get zucc w/ retained they should do this. The rangers would have more playoff experience than you would think-- but no they won't be a cup contender. It's never a bad thing to give young players playoff experience

Lines would be
Panarin-Strome-Zucc - 115 games experience (more if you count in panarins playoff experience in khl- 42 games)
Kreider-Zibanejad-Buch - 110 games experience
DiGiuseppe-Chytil-Kakko - 0 games experience
Lemiuex - Howden - Fast - 39 games experience

Skjei-Trouba - 44 games experienc
Lindgren-Fox - 0 games experience
Staal - ADA - 104 games experience

Lundqvist - 128 games experience
Shesterkin - 16 games experience with SKA in KHL

I like it but two concerns... 1) why would Minnesota retain salary on a player that has 5 years of term. Just doesn't make sense. 2) why would the rangers want an aging forward that only has 30 points this season. There is a reason they didn't bring him back. I love Zucc but his time as a ranger has come to an end. I would look into making other investments.

Nothing of what I said involved the trade (which is bad for Minnesota so it wont happen) so you can just subtract his 73 games. Also you don't count playoff experience by lines you count it by player. if 1 player cant adjust it effects the whole line. you cant drive with a flat tire.

i know you didn't comment on the trade. All i stated was that's why i said they should do it if "that's all it would take", it's pretty unrealistic.

Even if you do it by player, you have 7 players with over 25 games of experience in the playoffs
4 with over 70.
2 with over 100.

Not every player needs to have playoff experience in order to be successful in the playoffs, you just have to have a solid leadership core with experience to push them through.
And if you read what I wrote, I did state that they aren't cup contenders and that it's never a bad thing for young players to get some playoff experience. 1st round exit would be likely, but if it's a 6-7 game series it would still be worth a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th (which i already said was unrealistic so lets not get into that again)
