1 pt out, 2 games in hand..... But look at our remaining schedule. We have some very tough games coming up, 2 vs WSH, 2 vs VGK, 2 vs COL, 2 vs EDM, 2 vs CGY, 2 vs ARI. Our only easier games are 2 vs BUF, OTT and LAK. We could easily lose 19 of our last 24 games. At most we probably win 10 of our next 24 in my opinion. That won’t get us in playoffs. Unless Chevy makes that dumba trade now, we are 100% missing playoffs.

Who cares? Its for 2021 1st round, not the 2020 1st. Even then, Carolina was 11th two years ago and ended up with Andrei Svechnikov........I think its safe to say that if you don't put lottery protection on your picks no matter what, you deserve to be the laughing stock of the NHL when that pick becomes a top 3 winner.

Better safe than sorry is a mantra every team should use with the way Ottawa and SJ have thrown away top end picks this year and last.

If your team will be a bubble team all you have to do is protect it within the top 3 because if youre 12 or 14th worse, if you dont get top 3, youre locked in your positon

Ohh I thought you were talking about it from the trade perspective. Regardless though, the same could apply. They could end up with Byfield. Its unlikely but not impossible.
