In theory, I have no real issues with any of these deals. All of Foligno, Rowney and Coleman can play 200-foot games, can all play the gritty game and can all kill penalties. My question is can Jonas Brodin actually play on the right side? It didn't work with Muzzin, it didn't work with Dermott. It would almost be be more worth it for the Leafs to get Damon Severson from the Devils, instead of Jonas Brodin, if the cost for Brodin was both Dermott and Kerfoot. Severson is not nearly as good in his own end as Brodin, but I think he is plenty underrated and has 2 more years on his contract than does Brodin.
If the Leafs were actually serious about contending, they would stick with Liljegren for the rest of the season and move Barrie. While he a decent power play guy, and decent might be an overstatement, he has been as bad as, if not worse, then Ceci in our own end. Sandin should handle first line PP work until Rielly gets back and Muzzin can handle second line PP work.
