These are all bad.
Leafs say no. Faulk is a third pairing defenseman paid like a first or second. Why we traded for or signed him is beyond me, but the leafs had every opportunity to do the same last summer and didn't, which was a smart decision by them.
Everyone is saying Edmonton should be upset but honestly so should the Blues at that trade. It helps neither team. Dunn is cheaper, younger, and has more upside than Nurse. Kyrou has played at an All-Star level everywhere he goes up until now and he all the potential in the world to do the same at the NHL level, which is good for a team that already has established wingers and can ease him in like the Blues but not good for Edmonton because they need him to play now and don't have time to ease him in. Allen would be an upgrade over Smith, despite everyone saying he's bad. He's only bad when he's been asked to be the #1 guy, but he's played great in a tandem. As long as they'd have Koskinen, he'd probably be great. But he's probably not worth the extra cap for the Oilers. Bouchard is cool but there's not a lot of room for him on this team unless you let Pietrangelo walk, which I think would be a bad idea, and Oilers need Bouchard very badly. And the Oilers have said multiple times they aren't dealing their first round pick. If the Faulk deal doesn't go through, which it doesn't, we don't have Johnsson. And there's that trade.
Huge overpay on Dillon as a rental. I like Dillon and he'd be a good J-Bo replacement but yikes at that price, plus the only RHD we have in our system.
