This might be the best 6 defensive unit the Leafs have deployed this year.

My modesty and my sixty five year old legs tell that I shouldn't be getting top pairing billing. But I might be better value at 700,000 than the incessant trades I see on CF that for so many RHDs to the Leafs.
That's for reading my post and acknowledging the silliness of my comment, but I thought the trade posted was equally unreasonable.

Well... if Hainsey can do it lol.

I couldn’t agree more. Any rhd that is not currently a maple leaf is the key to bringing the cup home to Toronto.

People put too much emphasis on the strength of each side. Leafs have a deep strong left side that will carry the right. Liljegren has been good and will continue to grow confidence. Holl has been good. In my opinion if leafs can find a responsible partner for Rielly who can handle 20 minutes a night of defensively decent hockey the leafs will be fine.

Just a comment on the Leafs this year. Yea I know so many think they have a horrible defence and maybe even a bad team.
Going into the season due to cap reasons, the Leafs went into the season with weaker defence than last year. I wrote on Sept 3rd, I thought the Leafs would be fighting just to get a playoff spot.
So the Leafs started the year with Dermot and Hyman injured plus the worse coach in the NHL. Later injuries to Johnsson, Tavares, Marner, Mikheyvov, Muzzin, Reilly, Andersen, Johnsson again. Somer real guy keys. So IMO I think they have hung in there really well, still in playoff contention.

Just add to your comment above. Agree that "side" of defence is overemphasized on this site. But it's really the Leafs lineup so many talk about, not the other teams.

I think if the Leafs resign Muzzen then Dermott will be moved to the right side to play with Rielly. Just need to stay patient with the Leafs as they have alot of younger players still learning the game and tune out the media which is just trying to sensationalize everything to get more viewers. The Leafs core is just going to keep getting better and have no doubt Dubas will continue to upgrade team through trades, UFA signings and drafting. Actually think Leafs are going to be signing the Russian UFA goalie in a few months from now after KHL season ends to address the goalie depth weakness on the team.

I really like that Hoffman, Tavares and Nylander line for the Leafs and think it would be absolutely dominating.

Don't sell yourself short @palhal ! Lol

I don't know what to make the emphasis on right side vs the left side. Adding a steady defensive D would be nice but now with the Johnsson injury it's going to be harder to pull that off.

Agree and thought Johnsson was the Leafs main trade chip and would not want to see Kapanan or Kerfoot traded.

It's not that Johnsson was the guy automatically heading out of TO. It's that now the depth is really being tested and does that mean Dubas wants to mess with trading Kerfoot or Kapanen.

Once you make over $ 120,000 of come you lose that 604 dollar af month old age pension. So losing out on 7,200 dollars a year in OAP or playing for the Leafs for 700,000...it's a tough monetary decision.

You also need to realize that the government is probably also going to take $350,000 (ie 50%) in taxes on your $700,000 and you are probably also going to be subject to a number of other deductions such as union dues, agent fees and accounting and legal.

Those expenses are minor. I was thinking of the major expenses when being on the road. Bars, expensive restaurants, strippers and "massages"
