I think his value is set in stone right now amongst the teams who are interested in him. I think his play is increasing the interest level, but not necessarily the price teams are willing to pay. If that makes sense.

Of course not. That’s a fan thing. He’s been in the league for 9 years. GMs know who and what he is. Hot and cold streaks don’t change that.

If he keeps getting consistently better his value raises. Couple of good games here and there won't make much of a difference.

As for the trade, drop Barron and add a mid round pick from NYR, let's say the 4th you got from Namestnikov. There's good value in there in my opinion.

He left NHL due to attitude issues...there's not much trade value there.

He’s been a PPG player for a bulk of the season. He’s done it on a consistent basis...

Yeah I meant that if he was performing better than at the past seasons. He's pretty much the same player as he was then.

While Kreider throughout has career seemingly disappeared for stretches, his yearly production has been pretty consistent- around a 50 pt player per year...and this year he's having an up tick. After a slow start this year he's been very consistent- been playing like a beast just about every game since the 15th or 20th game...this can be contributed to a few things: 1. Finally has consistent linemates. 2. The team overall is much better- not in the same disarray as the past few years. 3. The guy is locked in- knows he's playing for his next contract. Showing what he gives when locked in should have other teams drooling...don't think he wont have the same level of desire playing playoff hockey....that which can carry any team.

That all said- if Sakic's thinking is in line with what I've seen Avs fans express- I doubt they provide the best offer for him...other teams (Bruins, TBL, Blues) seem to be in win now mode more than the Avs...and kudos to the Avs for not wanting to part with the future- maybe that is the best plan...but many teams have found that future never comes- and the Avs really are in position (with such a stocked prospect cupboard) to be a win now team AND with a long contention window.
