So, out of curiosity, what makes you think that Puljujarvi is worth a 4th liner and a player who currently has 12 points in 18 game for the habs. While Puljujarvi is in Ligga, admittedly at 44 points in 45 games, I just dont see the value coming back to montreal, especially when it was rumored that Edmonton was looking for a second for Puljujarvi while receiving no interest.

Being ineligible to join an NHL team for the playoffs further limits the LITTLE interest their was in Puljujarvi at the start of the season. My bet is Edmonton just adds him to a trade to make the return look better and save some face. Failing that he'll end up getting moved on the draft floor a 3rd and a 4th or something embarrassing like that.

EDM do need wingers for secondary offence on their playoff run, and MTL would take a shot at a big skilled winger from Finland.

Kovy's value is close to Poolparty's, but Cousins is not the right piece to cover the difference. 'm not even sure Edmonton has the capspace for the 2 of them right now.

Like @TCMonkey said, look for a trade that make them look better, like getting rid of Russel's contract for example.

I think everyone is missing the point. EDM could absolutely use Kovy and even Cousins for that matter but that is irrelevant.

Edmonton has to win this trade because if he does well elsewhere it looks sooooo bad on them... Again!

Thats why it makes most sense to recoup another teams high end prospect who hasnt worked out in return. That way both teams can have a second chance at redeeming that high end prospect they once had.

Edm needs to trade Puljujarvi and feel like they got another potential Puljujarvi in return to feel like they didnt lose this trade.

Adding Kovy and Cousins might really help them in the playoffs but that would still be loss in the trade at the end if the day.

There's clearly more interest then a 3rd or 4th. Problem before Dec 1st was teams weren't 100% on his value yrt especially after double hip surgery and Holland set a fairly high starting point because he didn't want to get ripped off. Safe play was don't sell JP until he could properly evaluate or get an overpay by a team willing to take a risk. Now that his hip/leg issues seem to be resolved his value should once again be in the B+ to A- prospect range.

Kovy's value is a 3rd at most no way a streak of points erases the 2 terrible years in LA. 0% chance JP is traded for a rental

Agreed, no chance JP is traded for any type of rental. I think main reason it didn't happen before Dec 1st was no GMs even Holland was sure of his true value after double hip surgery. Holland played it safe and waited with PPG season in Finland as a 21 yo i think he still holds good value for the Oilers
