Rangers Veteran Movement

Created by: Raggy
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2020
Published: Feb. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Cup contenders are usually veteran heavy teams who are committed in their own end with skill and youth sprinkled in. Rangers style now suits their roster and DeAngelo/Strome thrive in the end to end style. I think they would regress if needed to play a more structured game needed to make a playoff run.

Move Tony and Strome for a Top 4 LHD whos solid in their own end and get a middle 6 C whos a 2 way player. 3rd line could be JP or sign a veteran depth guy whos defensively minded.

Better trading D'Angelo for futures than 1 year of brodin. I don't think Vancouver needs centers. It's seems crazy theyre b trading guys of this quality. How are the Rangers not better.

laugh You're not getting Puljujarvi+Edmonton's 2020 1st round pick for Georgiev+Andersson. And Brodin for DeAngelo makes no sense what so ever.

Brodin was just the type of player they should target, whether they it's a sign and trade or another top 4 lhd.

ADA: 4.25M on a 4 year deal is low...his # and term will probably be 3-4 years at 5.25-6M per...and to trade him for a player who'l be UFA in one year- would be a fireable offense...if they do move his RFA rights it will be for a package of picks and/or prospects.

JP and Lias- both guys are unknown quantities at this point, both of whom have a lot invested in them by their respective teams...both teams will allow these guys to marinate in leagues back home to resurrect any value- and neither team will rush to accept a lowball offer- only to see the player find his game with another NHL team.

Strome trade- valuation seems pretty reasonable- but unless Vancouver has injury issues in their middle 6 which will not be resolved by the playoffs- requiring a rental- can't see them making this deal... they have several forward prospects that will be pushing for roster spots the next 1-3 years.
