Jackets trades with Toronto Ottawa Winnipeg and Nashville

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2020
Published: Feb. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto gets a Savard. A right handed shot defenseman who has some offensive upside but is a shutdown defensively and can eat minutes. They also get Josh Anderson and Texier to help replace Nylander. This for Toronto will alleviate cap issues and gives them a young controllable asset in Texier and a 1st round pick.
The Jackets get Nylander who can help be the driving force offensively for a team that desperately needs game breaking offense. Kerfoot give the Jackets a center option that, like Nylander, is signed long term.

Ottawa gives up a couple of picks they acquired last year at the deadline from Columbus to get a young center that is signed long term and could benefit from a change of scenery. If Wennberg rediscovers his play from seasons back this could be a steal for Ottawa.

The Jackets get their 2nd round picks back and will try to restock the pipeline.

Winnipeg takes a low risk gamble on Murray. In giving up Roslovic, they get a chance to improve their defense. Columbus eats a chunk of Murray's contract to help Winnipeg and any cap issues they might have trying to improve defensively. Milano comes over as well as a low cost replacement for Roslovic.

Columbus gets Roslovic. A young center who will get to go home to play for the team he rooted for growing up. It also gives the Jackets more center depth.

Nashville gets Joonas Korpisalo. Nashville has been a mess at goaltender. Pekka has gotten older and Saros has not been the answer. Korpisalo has proven to be a competent goaltender and is ready to be a starter at the NHL level. But with the goaltender depth in Columbus he may not get his shot there.

Columbus get a pick and a prospect to continue their restocking of their farm system.

How about Johnsson for Jones instead?

This is what Columbus shouldn’t do... also Toronto isn’t trading Nylander and Columbus 100% shouldn’t be trading Texier... also Wennberg isn’t getting that return.

Sens wouldn't trade for Wenneberg fullstop. Delusional to expect that kind of return for a 30 point player who puts up single digit goals every year

I know Columbus doesn't want to move Savard right now with Jones out but do you think Jarmo would consider something like Anderson and Savard for Kerfoot and Barrie? I'm guessing probably not because Barrie and Werenski wouldn't be a good fit but do you think something could be worked out between CBJ and the Leafs at or before the TDL?

Barrie would have to come with an extension for Columbus to consider it, but before the Jones injury I think Columbus might have pulled the trigger on a trade like this.

Thanks! I'm doing an ACGM and was wondering if Columbus would consider this as a deadline move.

As expected...this site sucks. None of you are open minded. All close minded and think players on their respected teams are Gods and must be treated as such. Most trades come in very underwhelming compared to what fans think because they don't see both sides. Pitiful
