I’ve heard there is a work ethic issue with him. If true, I want nothing to do with him. If untrue, I would still need Montreal to add to this trade...probably a 2020 2nd.

Just looking at their roster, my initial guess was that guys like Danault, Suzuki, and Kotkaniemi were getting center priorities over him and it has caused him to struggle, but if it's worth ethic then yikes...

I wonder how close Guerin is to making something like that happen. After saying if he saw any signs of quit there would be more changes, he fired Boudreau after they blew a 3-1 lead. Getting shut out by Martin Jones and the remnants of the Sharks roster this year? If that's not quit, idk what is. lol

Exactly. Russo reported that Habs would move Domi in a Brodin trade, but I think I'd rather we keep Brodin over Dumba if we trade a D. I'll post the quote in a sec

Edit: "The Canadiens would likely part with center Max Domi, maybe in a trade for Brodin because they have a surplus at Domi’s position and could use a quality left-shot defenseman."

I'm really starting to wonder if something is going on with Staal because he's seemed to vanish the last couple years around December and January when trade rumors start to pick up. Does he worry about getting traded and it affects his play?

I think I remember Russo saying something like that last year, that Staal really does not want to leave MN and with his future here in jeopardy it affected his game (Fenton actually had a proposal for Boston's 1st and Kuraly that he declined). I could be wrong on the part about Staal's play, but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in a podcast last year.

Domi is struggling this year because he’s playing for is contract and he’s trying to do all by himself. He needs to calm down and it is not a big deal not getting 7M. Domi is better at center and doesn’t want to play wing ( yes he’s better at center, so Suzuki ) and since Danault is the #1 center and Suzuki have been stellar, he’s playing on the 3rd line ( 2nd & 3rd line are playing actually the same amount of minutes ). Next year Kotkaniemi will get the 3C again so Domi will need to play LW or will be move this summer IMO

I think I'd rather the Wild pursue the trade suggestion @BurgerBoss made of Dumba for Rakell. Rakell seemed like a good center a few years ago, then got shifted to wing when they acquired Henrique if I'm not mistaken. He's about the same age as Dumba, right shot, and has term so seems like a good match. Anaheim could use a RHD, so the need is there for them.

Thanks a ton for the info. If that's the case then I think having him here in MN would do him a big favor. He'd easily be our 1C and could play with Fiala and Parise.

At the start of the year Domi was given the 2C spot. He didn’t have an amazing start to the year, but went Drouin went out the whole team struggled. Since then Suzuki has been getting better rapidly, so much so that he’s now ahead of Domi on the depth chart. Since Suzuki was playing so well at C, and KK was still the 3C, Domi needed to play the wing. And Domi is a considerably better C than winger.

While I love his intensity and personality, it logistically makes sense for the habs to move him to make room for KK, Suzuki, & Poehling. Also I feel like he won’t be able to be used to the best of his abilities.

Having an outsider view on Matt Dumba, I think this deal makes a lot of sense for both teams, especially if the habs are trading Petry. I would like to ask if there’s any reason that Minny is willing to part with Dumba? Have people soured on him, or just a result of depth at different positions?

Not happening. Suzuki is completely untouchable.

No way we are trading Suzuki, it would be for Kaprizov and still and don’t know if we’re doing it 1 for 1

I’ll say that he is currently our most valuable part of our franchise then.
