You'd have to think Tampa is now off the market for Kreider. If the Rangers don't at least get what they got for Hayes for Kreider I think they should just keep him

I dont think it did at all, teams who would have wanted Kreider are going after guys who additional term left on their contracts instead.

Ranger better be careful and not set his value too high while stringing teams along in this. "we want to resign him" story they are pushing bc before they know it, the market for him might dry up

Coleman 21g 10a 166 hits almost 3m cheaper not a rental.

I doubt it changed much. Name v. Production = value?

He only has one extra year. Not much of a difference in term to bring in higher value such as this.

If anything, it makes it a higher possibility to reel in a better Prospect than someone like the Tyson Jost's of the world. Maybe could actually grab a Kyrou.

How so? 30 goal scorer on a sweetheart contract for another year for a little more then Muzzin (who got a 1st and 2 2nd draftees)

I'm not sure, rentals are different and now two potential buyers for Kreider have found someone else. It could hurt. But Boston, Colorado and St Louis are still out there.

They've always been the only 3 options, in my eyes. Would be nice to have other teams to bargain against, but they've always been the top suitors.

Coleman is cheap at 1.8 million for another year and can play anywhere in the middle 6. Kreider will be winger as a rental and will have a higher cap hit. I think the return for Kreider should be around Coleman, not more, given Kreider's value in the playoffs. Expect a similar return at the deadline for Kreider as this Coleman trade.

Coleman - at this salary and production and with extra year - should return a bit more than Kreider.
