Why I LIKE the Coleman trade

Created by: BOLTLOVER1
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2020
Published: Feb. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tampa HAS to win this year. Period. Why I like this trade:
1. Defensive player with position versatility with 21 goals this year on crap team
2. Has term at low 1.8M next year .. we need Cap help.
3. Realization that Tyler Johnson can't play in playoffs in tight games..and he can't
3. WAKE THE TEAM UP .. last year was disgrace at TDL
4. I hope Johnson to Calgary for Harmonic is next move

Costly yes but you play to win.. NOW

I don't think its awful Coleman's definitely a good player I just don't think he's worth two 1st round picks. You'd have to figure Kreider would've had a similar price tag and I think I'd rather have him for a playoff run than Coleman for 2 years

Coleman has more versatility and also Kreider is now easily a more expensive option for a rental .. Paquette as 4th line C is also a strong addition as I thought he wasnt ready for 3C .. I see Stephen's going down or my hope and pray is a Tyler Johnson trade ASAP for a 2RD .. then Cup is very possible.

No issue with adding Coleman to the lineup. But that's a lot to pay for it.

On C.K., I don't agree.
Kreider's a meh-RENTAL, good boots, so-so finish, very little recent playoff exp., getting a little grey and the next contract won't fit in TB (or many other NHL towns) unless a few heads roll this spring/summer.

As for Foote, he's a top A-prospect in a TB system w/ ample D-core depth. Moreover, he is just a prospect as we sit here today like countless others to still make the show (remember can't misses such as G. Reinhart, Olli Juolevi etc etc...) & the 1st-pick will likely be 28-29-30-31 ish when those stepping up to the podium COULD be congratulating TBL on the S-CUP Win!!

Although I was surprised it wasn't Cal Foote in deal instead of his brother AND thought it would be Tampa 1st rounder not Vancouver

Yeah but you would've had to shed salary in order to fit Kreider into the lineup, which wouldve upped the price tag.

The pick is vancouvers, not TBLs, so if the pick is for this year it could be low 20s
