As a Leafs fan, I would make that trade because it HELPS address one of our primary needs. Larsson is not a Norris candidate but, he can play defence and that is what the Leafs need. Holl and Liljegren are decent enough lower pairing guys but we lack severely in top four RHD.

I think you will hear a lot of pissing and moaning from some Oilers fans on this one even though a couple of my friends who are big time Oilers fans have already indicated that they would get behind a trade like this if it were ONE for ONE, Kapanen for Larsson.

Every fan base overvalues their own players but I would expect some very polarizing views to emerge on this one bro.

Agreed, this is deal that would be beneficial for both sides. EDM gets their speedy top-6 winger with term and low cap hit, and TOR gets a D-first RD with some term left on a deal. I could see the Leafs adding a sweetener to get Puljujärvi in the deal. Only problem is he can’t be on an active roster until next season, so it’s hard to get full value for him until at least the draft.

Something centres around Larsson and Kapanen makes sense, and for cap/length of contract reasons I agree the Oil will put another piece into any trade.

However, I think the Oil will keep Larsson for a playoff run and try to find a cheaper ufa winger as a rental at the deadline. This trade is probably more likely at the draft or this summer.

Leafs pass easily. Larsson isn't much of an upgrade and Puljujarvi can't play this season. Kapanen has more value than that. & with Johnsson out for the season now its highly unlikely Kapanen is moved unless its for a legit difference maker.

I could see at the draft or in the summer a trade of Larsson straight up for Johnsson which makes sense for both sides

add more for a #4 d-man and a player that can't play in the league right now and doesn't help them win right now they're trying to do? .. that makes no sense.

For a 44-point winger, yes. There are plenty of similar players that EDM could get for less.

Oilers fans appear to be pissing and moaning as much as leafs fans. Neither side should be. This is a good deal for both and the value is exact. Both teams improve and fill a need by giving something up they didnt need as much. I have been proposing this one for a while and I like this deal

points aren't everything in hockey. With Kapanen's elite speed and his really good defensive game as well, if he played with McDavid he'd likely be around 60-70 points with defence. Those types of players are not easy to find and cost a premium to get
