1.
CHI
COL
  1. Keith, Duncan
Additional Details:
Keith marks the start of a teardown. He's not as young as he once was, but he is still playing at a top-level. I was too young to see Chelios play for the Hawks, but I do know was 37 when we traded him to Detroit. Im not saying that Keith is Chelios, but I think he still has a couple of years of really good hockey yet. Any contender should theoretically be happy to have him, probably not as their first defenseman, but happy to have him nonetheless.
2.
CHI
VGK
  1. Gustafsson, Erik
Additional Details:
This makes sense.
3.
CHI
CAR
  1. Lehner, Robin ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I have had Carolina fans tell me that goaltending is not the problem this year. However, I believe that Lehner still makes sense for Carolina to acquire and potentially resign. I think both Carolina Goalies have 2 years left on their contracts, so from an outsiders perspective I think it makes sense.
4.
CHI
BOS
  1. Saad, Brandon
Additional Details:
I don't think we sell off Saad, and would probably extend him given the chance, but I think Boston makes sense as long as the cap makes sense.

PIT and TBL have both bulked up for the playoffs, will Boston do the same?

Why do you think Keith to Col does not work? A good mentor for Bowen Byram next year, playoff experience, still a good player.

***EDIT*** COL doesn't need Keith. They need PK and I think they're mediocre in net. Also, Keith has Full NMC and cap recapture...understood that wasn't part of the question just other factors needing to be considered.

Is it because Keith is going to a division rival?

Colorado just has so many good defensemen- Makar, Graves, Zadorov and Girard, with Byram coming up, with the added caveat that they have Cole and Johnson locked in for awhile as the "vets and mentors", Johnson with some no trade protection. I don't see why they need a LHD like Keith, who is playing fine, but is also very old and still signed for awhile. Keith has a NMC too, how likely is it that he'll waive? A lot pieces that don't really fit together there.

Contract, I know they have space, but they don't like contracts that will go past 2-3 years when they'll have to pay their stars (im not wrong right, Keith has like 4 years left still) plus it's an inter divisional trade, CHI is gonna charge COL more, and with who they already have it's not gonna be worth the marginal upgrade and to take on the last few years of that deal which will cause them cap issues, and will be an anchor for them likely, he is already showing small signs of regression, and still has a bit too much term... plus inter divisional trades...

Dont think Keith will want to go to Colorado because he's already stated he wants to stay in Chicago plus Colorado has a plethora of young defense already. They need a depth forward more than a defenseman.
While Gus to Vegas makes sense in that they need offense from the backend, they really need a RHD and not another lefty. So I dont think it necessarily works.
I can see Chicago signing Lehner in the offseason and letting Crawford walk.
Saad to Boston while it makes sense, based on Coleman's value for non-rentals I dont think this works in Boston's favor

Colorado does not need Keith and sending him to a division rival would be a mistake. I think Saad could also go to Edmonton if he is moved. If the Hawks cannot agree with Lehner before the deadline he should be moved. Gus should be moved regardless, because of cap and with Mitchell potentially coming next year there will be a logjam.

From the perspective of a Hawks fan,

Keith - COL = 2: Trading a franchise icon within the division would be a tough pill to swallow and even then, I don't totally see him fitting in Colorado or getting a great return for him. Florida is where I see him going to reunite with Coach Q.

Gus - VGK = 5: Vegas could use another defenseman and Gus has a lot of upside. Might be a stretch here, but offensive defensemen like Burns and Karlsson have thrived under Pete DeBoer. Perhaps he could get a boost down the stretch out there. He could also probably fetch a solid return, especially with what Greene went for yesterday.

Lehner - CAR = 5: Personally, I don't think Lehner gets moved, I think that even if we do "sell off" they'll keep him in hopes that they can sneak in and take a run at re-signing him. That said, Carolina has a ton of prospects I'd be interested in, as well as 4 picks in the first two rounds this season (once the conditions on the Fox trade are met).

Saad - Boston = 4: Saad would be great for the Bruins. I don't know what the Hawks would get back but I know they'd either have to retain or take on David Backes. Urho Vaakanainen is the guy I'm interested in, or their first round pick of course, although it would probably be 27th overall at the highest.

Yes i heard Boston is allin on Kreider,Palmieri, so they will get a pretty good player just like tampa and pittsburgh....i don't think they will go for Saad though...
1st round pick of boston is a guaranteed in any deal + possibly prospects, if the market stays same high value...
Lehner i think stays... Chicago will say no to any offers on Lehner, that's what i think about him... Goalies are not that common this close to trade deadline i think, Campbell was last goalie trade imo this season...
