I mean idk... imagine it ends up being 6/7th overall. Ottawa gets two pieces in Strome/Debrincat which are young, sure things.

its a tempting trade. It won't end up happening but it's interesting

Very tempting indeed but if that thing is top 5 or 3 OTT would look like fools.

yes it depends where it lands. I agree. it would be a trade that would have to be made after the lottery

Top 5? Totally disagree, would need to be a top 3 pick. Too much risk always with draft prospects when instead you have a proven 22 year old that can score 40 goals...how many prospects in each draft year are able to accomplish that in their first 3 seasons? In this draft, you have AF and everyone else is a gamble. I'd argue OTT would be dumb not to take that deal outside of a top 3 pick.

Do you not know this draft is great? That top 6 players are consider to elite prospects/franchise chnagers. No one is trading a top 5 pick espeically when you are rebuilding.

To be fair, you can just as easily rebuild around 21/22 year olds as you can 18 year olds. Debrincat and Strome are rebuild worthy pieces. You can hold your opinion that you wouldn't trade a top 5 pick for that package, fine, but pretending the offer was made without considering the rebuilding state of the Sens is unjust. It's not like I tried prying away that pick with Patty Kane or something...

Best of luck in the draft, should be a good one for you guys. <3

Look at all the comments. I acknowledge the trade is tempting. It makes sense, but it's just something that probably wont happen. Why start paying guys like Strome and Cat when your not ready to make a push yet. Instead you can have two guys on entry level who may up even being better or not. If OTT was more like in the Rangers postion of being on the cusp, I believe they would pull the trigger. Just seems a year too earlier for them. Hey you never know though.

LOL they say that every draft. I can 100% promise not all of the top 6 will be elite and furthermore, pretty sure one or more doesn't become a full time NHL player through his career. Don't believe me, go back and look at the historical drafts.
