I dont think the Habs wants Yanni Gourde and his contract. They also already have a lot of wingers

Why would Gourde waive his NTC to leave his current situation? That would stupid.

His current situation sucks.

He is from Quebec, he would be happy to play for the Canadiens imo.

It makes a lot of sense actually. Tampa would need to clear the cap to bring in Petry and Gourde is a Quebec native and might want to return home to get more minutes instead of playing bottom 6 in Tampa. The two teams definitely line up well for a trade

I think you are overplaying the going home card. Who would piss away a grade a chance at a cup on a loaded roster?

Except he would make way less money.

I just have that gut feeling that Gourde would waive for Habs. But we can only speculate...

Gourde is really close to be a healthy scratch.. money is same for him no matter where he is .. 2 more years of NTC .. question is does he want to have a chance to play a role or just want to hold the trophy regardless of playing time.

Gourde is nowhere close to being a "healthy scratch" lol. I don't see him waiving now either, maybe after the season. The Lightning wouldn't be able to afford Petry's contract after this year anyway, so they would then have to move him as well after the season. In any case, Montreal will, rightfully, ask a high price for him and I don't see Tampa being that buyer.

It's not as much as the going home card as much as it is the chance to play more. Guys with his skill don't like playing bottom 6 mins when he could easily be a top 6 guy in Montreal. Going home just adds more incentive

He's not leaving a potential cup contender in Tampa, For a Montreal team that probably doesn't make the playoffs.
