Ya that Domi trade...it should be the other way around. Brodin and 2 2nds for Domi. You're getting an RFA and giving up a guy who could walk in 1 yr. 2 2nds are the insurance in case Brodin walks

Going to have to find away to shine up the buried under a rock section to acquire some assets, or going to be one long rebuild. Possibly 6 more years of bubbles until suter and parise off the books.

Probably worth a 2nd, or 2 3rds

Ya sorry I misread. It's 1 2nd. It doesn't change my opinion about who should be getting the 2nd.

I just can't get behind a Brodin deal involving Domi. Flip the scripts, what would you have said if this was last year when Brodin was worth two 2nds as an option and Domi was considered untouchable? Has one year flipped everything? Brodin is 1 year away from free agency and having a good but not great season. Domi may be having a down year but he's an RFA that can be controlled for much longer and is bound to rebound next year...

If Im the Habs, adding a LHD now is too late. The time was this offseason. Now the Habs have Kulak and Chiarot signed long term. Mete will be resigned and Romanov coming over specifically to play in the NHL. Brodin all but ensures that Kulak is a 7th dman and Mete is traded. I just don't see it.

I thinks it’s close to a 1 for 1, but recently I’ve read about Domi lacking work ethic, so I’m not that jazzed about even acquiring him...so I added the 2nd.

Brodin is having a sensational season! If Suter and Parise weren’t the coaches and GMs of the Wild, Brodin would be the top-paring LHD. He is unquestionably the better player now.
Your other reasons are very sound, however.

If this is the price to acquire Dumba right now then Leafs pass.
Moving Liljergen is non-starter for me.

You and most Leafs fans feel this way but I just don’t get it. Liljegren is a good, but not great prospect...

Maybe moving Liljegren for trying to win right now makes sense but given the cap situation, Leafs can't trade a Liljegren or Sandin type of contract because to win now they are needed as value contracts to stay at the cap.

That’s a completely valid point...and makes perfect sense for the Leafs...but, it doesn’t change what Liljegren’s actual trade value is. Simply put, he’s much more valuable to the Leafs than he is to anyone else.

Brodin never eclipsed 25pts. Hes on the verge of doing it this year, but even 35 pts. This deal doesn't make sense for MTL whatsoever. I can trade Domi to cup contender and they'll over pay. Brodin should be traded to a cup contender cause any rebuilding team isn't gonna touch a top 4 pairing D (they're expensive) with 1 yr remaining before hitting free agency.
