You’re gonna get called crazy because no Leafs fans want to create cap space to actually improve the defence

It’s not too late to take this down before leaf fans kill you over that low of a return for Marner. No 1sts, no RHD, and no top line players coming back.... The best thing you’re getting back is Byram, he’s going to be really really good, but is he worth trading Marner for?

Hahaha swing and a miss, Avs don’t want to inherit the leafs cap mess with this trade and saving their d core

You are not getting that sort of return, no team is doing the leafs any favors,

Byram has higher value than Marner.

Exactly Marner is not worth anything near that. Maybe Marner with retained salary for one of Zadorov/Cole would make more sense.

How do you still have an account? All you do is poorly troll

Marner can’t fetch you a top pairing defenseman.

Marner with his grossly overpaid contract deflates his value significantly. Just because you disagree with my takes doesn’t make me a troll.

There a lots of top pairing guys+ that I’d give up to get Marner, depending on the situation each team is in. They won’t trade him though, but they’ll be stuck in the mud until they at least trade Nylander for a d-man.

Marner last year had 94 points, this year hes on pace for 100. He may be slightly overpaid but he’s still a phenomenal elite winger. He’s certainly not a cap mess. As for the trade, it’s 2 middle 6 wingers, a blue chip D prospect, and a 2nd, for one of the premier wingers in the league. The only piece of significant value is Byron. I don’t think leafs do this trade

FOR EVERYONE SAYING MARNER IS GROSSLY OVERPAID: he's on pace for 100+ points over an 82 game season. And:

According to Jonas Siegel's twitter as of ten days ago ( I don't know about now but it's likely relatively similar as Matthews and Marner have scored at a high pace in last 5 games):

NHL scoring leaders since Dec 7:

1. Mitch Marner: 39 points
2. Artemi Panarin: 38
3. Auston Matthews: 37

Also kills penalties.

I dunno man. As a Pens fan, I wouldn’t trade Dumoulin for Marner 1 for 1.

Which makes you an absolute fool.

There are better guys paid less, but Marner is the guy I would miss the most if I were a leafs fan. Trade Tavares, trade Matthews, trade Nylander. Marner is the guy I want if I want to win. This is coming from a guy following two teams in the division.
Oh yeah, signing Muzzin to 4-5 years is nuts. They keep trying to pull bad moves because this is the 'window'. Just make good decisions and don't overpay.

Don’t forget he matches up against other teams’ top lines. Honestly, Marner does everything you are looking for. However I just don’t feel as impressed with him compared to last season. Maybe it’s because the Leafs have had an inconsistent year altogether. But some told me Marner only took himself to an elite level in order to get himself the big contract.

I think Burakovsky, Byram + 2nd would be an amazing trade for Toronto.

I am a huge fan of Marner, but trust me, no team is trading their top shutdown defenseman for him and that contract.

Depends very much on that said D and the team's cap situation.

Would be surprised if there's more than 15 d-men in the league that wouldn't be swapped for Marner 1-on-1.
